Just wondering what you guys think of him as a coach?

Ive heard more than 1 player say he is a good "bloke", but not a coach. This side under performed this year considering all the talen they have, and I know many people/players were not happy with the club this year.

I think they should look for a better option for JBC coach for next year.

He has it very difficult. He came in with no experience mid season after our previous coach resigned. He suffers froim the problems of having a team above you that constantly chops and changes your side. Further, he has no one below him from where he can draw surplus players. Considering the circumstances he has done well for a novice.

Perhaps a more experienced coach could do better. I don't know. One of Trevor's strengths is is rapport with the players and staff. Question is, who could replace him?

What happens to the PL coach from the Sharks?

I guess with a Sharks coach, more experience would be there, however players at NEwtown would probably be hard done by..

Jeffles you mention Trev having no team below him from which to draw surplus players.
Cant Trevor promote and drop players to the Newtown Junior Jets A-Grade side?
If not already done is this possible within the Souths Junior Rugby League rules and regulations?

Phil Sigsworth would be an excellant JB coach. He has a proven track record in Metro Cup and has experience at the West Tigers and he is a Jets legend.

MM the Junior Jets played A-reserve and struggled and Souths rules are no JB player can play A-reserve.

I fully support Trevor and despite winning only 4 matches this year we had a chance to win at least another 4 so I think the results are a little misleading.

Actually, some of the JBC players were told to go and play A-Grade for Jets, however did not want to. Some other players were sent to Parkes.

I know there was alot of unsatisfaction with the way things ran this year.

I also wanna note, that there was no need to draw a surplus of players. I have heard there was atleast 8 people each week that did not get a run.. Hows that for surplus..

I would also agree that Phil Zigsworth would be a great JBC coach. He currently coaches the UTS Uni side, and they have been killing it for years.

Players who were sent to Parkes did so fo their own choice no one was forced to go. Players could not go back to A-grade as the Junior Jets played A-reserve after the first few rounds and were inelligible.
I do not understand what gripe you have with Trevor unless you are a player and are disgruntled with your performances this year. Perhaps its your performances that need to be looked at.

If you are not associated with the club then you are giving heresay information and of the two of us I have had more to do with JB than yourself.

No I am not a player.. But I have got alot of solid contacts at the club, and I havnt been wrong yet have I?

I think your falling into the "good bloke" trap.. Yeh, he may be a good bloke, but coaching wise,I would go with someone who can attain more respect and with more experience.

I heard he played a few games this year himself because he didnt like the way the team was going.. Thats gotta be a shot in the foot for confidence of the players..

1 game as all year we have not had a half back who can control the game and he showed great faith in those he gave an opportunity. Trevor knows he has a lot to learn and was thrown into the gig on less than a weeks notice. He deserves an opportunity for next year with a stronger team to show what he can do with players who can follow instruction if after next season he does not improve then so be it but I hope he gets the gig again.

I take it with a grain of salt as given the work he puts in in the hardest job of all by finalising a team an hour before kick off and telling players they cannot play which is disappointing to them but due to points it is unavoidable. I have actually seen it first hand and speak from experience and he even told players who had grumbles about getting more games to have them select a side and hand in and see how many points it was worth none who actully did it came close to 100.

Players are sent back to JB and he is told they must play and in a certain position and that even means dropping a form player or having them change positions so player grumbles are common in all clubs. We won 4 games (more than last year) lost narrowly or in the final few minutes in several others and had chances in 2 others. It is frustrating to understand what goes into getting a team on the paddock for some.

As far as showing faith in some ordinary performances by several players he showed in my book way too much and if players are not smart enough to understand that then they will have problems in any club and in life in general.

I was told that many did get under 100.. BUt thats not the point..

If they do have players from PL coming back down (some surely with First Grade experience), then that would make them stronger, no?
Look at the Bulls.. They too have players from PL and NRL Experience, and they go awesome..

I heard Ziggy is doing well with his UTS Side.. I rekon he deserves a shot, rather than having a coach who you can just have a laugh with, show no respect for, has no experience, and has his group of favourite players, who dont miss out on selection..

I personally dont care what happens, but I rekon thats what Newtown should do, if they wanna move on for a bigger year next year..

Personally, I think the Dragons should do the same with Brown..BUt thats an arguement for a diff forum..

1) Players do not even see the team sheets as to the total points. We have times where two players who must play take up a quarter of the points and you must name 17, and some times have breached this rule this year we have not.

2) The Bulls have the good fortune of being a JB cup team only and have no disruptions as too who gets dropped back and cannot play all their preferred players regularly due to the points. This is comparing apples with oranges.

We have not breached the 100 points some teams have and have been fined. Also we have had players who will jump from being worth 2 points this year to 7 next year a big jump other clubs do not and hence we will need to find more young 2 point players next year to blood and Trevor and Gareth Lupton have found these players this year and are moving to get more next season. There are many issues which the players and yourself may not be aware of due to the points system and therefore take things on face value but there is more to it than what you have said here.

Why wouldn't Trevor have played himself. The Jets got thrashed against Cabramatta the week before,. The players were awful that day. And he played very well the following week.

Dragon 21, it ius ahrd to deny your contacts at the club. But you still aren't 100%. Remember you did start the thread about a Jets "merger".

You may be right that Trev did not please everyone. What Bluebag and I argue is that he has it tough and he has been improving. While you do have a lot of insight into the club, it is safe to say your knowledge of the club (more than the team) is not as intimate as Bluebag's. I'm not shooting the messenger. Just try and see the bigger picture.

Trev is well thought of amongst the fans. It`s easy to knock someone when they`re down. Don`t forget many of his players ended up in Premier league and/or were injured.

Well I have continued to hear the dissapointment in Trevor this year...

On my behalf, I have personally seen (on more than 1 occasion), some people getting a run before others while both people are on the same amount of points..

Its your club.. I dont care what happens next year personally.. BUt I would be putting in a coach with more experience and a better reputation and someone that can earn the respect from the players.

Can you name such and example of "some people getting a run before others while both people are on the same amount of points"?
