Tri-Series flawed

Why is the Tri-series being payed only in the England? IMO this is a major mistake made by the people responsible for this decision. How does playing internationals in one country advertise the international game in Australia and New Zealand? Being played in England the game will be received in the early morning in Australia and New Zealand. Many die hard and casual RL fans would of missed this mornings game because of the time. The same thing will happen with the Tri-series. What happens when Australia verse NZ? How large will the crowd be in wigan or bradford for a neutral game?

The organisers of this tounament have got it severly wrong. It should of been a home and away series with each team getting one home game and one away game. And if this mornings game is anything to go by the tournament would have been a huge success if promoted correctly.

I thought they were playing the Roos V Kiwis games in NZ to be honest, but if they are all in GB it will be because no one else can be bothered to host the matches. It's like the World Club Championship, that game will always be in GB because Australia refused to host it.

Ray French had a big blast at the Aussie RL authorities recently, perhaps he was right?

Why don't you just come over for the matches? You can stay at mine if you don't mind roughing it on the floor. Just tell the people at the airport you are an Afghan seeking political asylum in the UK, they'll put you up in first class on a British Airways jet.

Naa...They'd ship you off to Nauru via way of Christmas Island...

Play it in London I say. I mean, there's enough Aussies and Kiwi's to fill Twickenham several hundred times over in that city right?. Sell really cheap Kangaroo's and Kiwi's Jerseys so all those toss bags wear those instead of Wannabes and All Blacks ones. Good exposure.

I'd probably plan it like this-

GB vs Australia @ Old Trafford/somewhere near Manchester
Australia vs NZ @ Millenium Stadium
NZ vs GB @ Dublin/Paris ( Carney = A character. even for the Irish!)
Australia vs GB @ JBB Stadium
NZ vs Australia @ Twickenham
GB vs NZ @ Millenium stadium

Aus V NZ should be played at JJB. Smaller ground for the smaller attendance. Leave Aus V GB for Old Trafford and Twickenham/Millenium.

Hull`s KC stadium has a three year agreement with the RFL to stage at least one international per season . So we`ll be getting one of the Tri Series matches for the next two years at least . I`m no big fan of the Tri Series concept. It gets even worse when G.B. are guaranteed home advantage every year. I want to see my country battle out a tough Test Series in Australia . I was lucky enough to see the Lions on tour in 1992 and am itching to see them tour Australia again .

I reckon we should see more three test series between the top 3 teams, Aus Vs GB, Aus Vs NZ, and GB vs NZL.

If this Ashes series ends up being a success, then most of us are gonna have to wait another 4-5 years for another, and I reckon it should happen every year. This tri-series format is an absolute joke, the idea of having a tri series in one country is good, but to have in the same country the next two years simply wont work and none of us in Aus/NZL are gonna like it.

I reckon if your gonna have a tri-nations tournament, play it in 3 countries, because tri nations means 3 nations. Otherwise call it something else.

Hopefully they'll change it, after this Ashes series.

Bring back the 3-test series, stuff this one-off test bullsh*t. Unless the Aussies are playing someone like France or PNG.

From the talk they are trying to have a few tests in Australia or New Zealand before the Tri-Series officially kicks off.

I think the ARL are slowly begining to find the worth in having internationals.

y does england get all the international?!?!

Because Australia either can`t or won`t host a proper three Test series . Brits are in effect financing international rugby league .

Like most poms I'd like to see a RLWC in Australia and one in New Zealand, the world club challenge to be rotated around all three.

However the NZRL and the ARL would have to agree to this and they won't. Apparently there is no way Ozzies would ever turn up to a World Cup at this time of year to watch rugby :(.

This is a joke. I wish they could cast their mind back to a little over 10 years ago when the British Tour was a huge success.

There hasn't been a three-Test GB tour since.

I like the idea of the Tri Series but would like to see them host it on a rota basis

2004 - in Britain
play Aus v NZ in London (big crowd with the ex pats)

2005 - in Australia

2006 - in New Zealand

start cycle again

Interupted only by a reasonably small scale world cup every four, from 2005, hosted by Australia initially.

Regular international competition is vital in attracting new support, retaining support and for sponsors.

I like the idea of a tri series but surely player burnout is something that has to be looked at.Look how many aussies pulled out of this years tour.If we are gonna have this tri-series year in year out then surely somethings gotta give. Why not play it every two years alternating between Europe and Autralasia. This way it could be like the old days of Roo tour every 4 years. Also why not throw a rest of the world side in there. This would give the players from the smaller nations like PNG,France,Lebanon etc something to aim for.As well they could play their home games in France when the sereis is played in Europe and PNG when its played down here.
So this is how my revolving internatonal calender would look
2004 - Tri or Quad series in Britain and France
2005 - World Cup
2006 - Tri or Quad series in Australasia
2007 - Euro Nations Cup,South Pacific Cup,North Pacific Cup (USA,Canada
Russia & Japan)
2008 - Tri or Quad Series in Britain and France
