North Queensland Cowboys 26 def. Brisbane Broncos 6 (Riki try; Staggs goal)

This was a disappointing end to the Broncos pre-season. Coming off of last week's lackluster performance against the Gold Coast Titans, the Broncos made two key positional changes with young gun Selwyn Cobbo earning a start at fullback and Cory Paix getting the nod at starting hooker. Both failed to make a compelling case for their respective roles, with Cobbo in particular looking lost at various stages.

The night actually started off well for the Broncos. Off of a penalty they scored through a deft kick by Tyson Gamble and gave themselves multiple chances to extend their score. However rudderless sets and poor last play options relieved the pressure and once Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow scored off some broken play footy the Broncos lost their grip on the contest.

It honestly should have ended up worse but the Cowboys let the Broncos off the hook and weren't firing on all cylinders themselves.

Haas proved a handful in the middle but outside of his carries there was little to write home about for the Broncos.
