There is gonna be a bunch of practice/trial games for the WC coming up.

Probably a good idea to keep these discussions in the one thread before the WC proper starts, as there probably wont be too much interest in majority of the games, but some interest in a few

Will post who plays who in the trials in the next day or two

I find these trial games weird, why do the top tier teams play each other instead of say state or associate teams?

There have been some pretty outstanding warm up games between full strength ODI sides that ultimately amount to nothing at all. Should be saved for the main event.

Fresh off of the tri-series involving England and India, Australia will play India in a trial game on the 8th. Definitely a bit weird.

Are these games televised anywhere?

Some good completely meaningless match-ups there.

I have trouble pretending good games never happened, it was in 2011 when Canada nearly beat England in a warm up. Imagine if they did and it counted for squat.

I can understand these games for nations who haven't played in Australia / new Zealand recently, particularly the minnows, to give them a feel of the conditions

but seriously aust v india? NZ V SA? Eng v Pak? plus a few others.

They should have made it compulsory for each test nation to play their two warm up games against minnow nations, maybe even make it a legit ODI as well. Its rare to get the minnow to play against top nations, might as well give them a crack here just before and during the WC.
