score was parra 36- newtown 16

best player for jets IMO was hooker Anthony Watts.

last years jets grand finalists now playing first grade to do well were Josh Lewis,Shaun Kenny-Dowell,P1,P2 ,Roy Aubusson and big Charlie T.

The biys played really well with only 14 players and another 6 coming up from Flegg in very hot conditions. Danny Williams was my pick he just busted his butt taking the ball up and tackling. Also there were another few who had played SG Ball last year and have now played Pl before JF.

it was typical newtown, most tried hard and look like they may make the step up, what the hell is the coach thinking with that fullback????? give me a break this bloke couldnt catch a cold in the antartic!!!! newtown should play a turnstile as fullback, every time parra made a break they ran straight past him.

He was outstanding, try saving tackles, stromg hitups, defused bombs, organised the line, a terrific job.

I wasn't at the game so can't comment on the particular player. BUT.... It's a F'ing trial, thats what they are about, testing out players in new positions etc. So while it's dissapointing to see the Jets lose, I wouldn't worry too much about the result.
The result that matters is when the REAL games start in round one.

I was there and I am refering to Aaron Lai, he was a weak link in a very weakened side, I know that there was 11-12 players on the bench in first grade that will need the UBD reference to Henson Park,,,,, think back to last year Aaron was very ordinary at the later part of the season yet some bright spark thinks he is a better option than Troy Malcom......... ahhhh the joys of following the Jets

You're right on the money Hornet. We went down but Parra were fielding more of their PL regualrs than we did ... Probably 10 who played in the FG trail will return to the PL for the regular season.

I actually thought the young fullas aquitted themselves quite well esp in the 2nd half and that replacement FB goes good ... defused a tricky spiral bomb and did some tidy scoops of a couple of dangerous grubbers ...

HPH,

There is only 1 BTJ and I will never have his audacity to build myself up.

CURSEDJET,

You are obviously a long time watcher of Jets games to even know about REECE HAMER who came with big wraps but was like getting a chrissy present from your gran, another hanky and you get disappointed.
However I must take you to task on the performance of Aaron Lai, it appears you are a bitter twisted narc when he was rated as one of the better players in an inexperienced team that played well.
It is obvious you are tring to unsettle the loyal and dedicated fans who support their team to the nth degree while you are a blowin and blowhard and you should do the right and honourable thing and apologise for you uninformed opinion about Aarons performance as well you other post about the legendary John Raper. It does not matter if he is for hire and if the Dragons do not want him at many functions he will alsways be a bluebag even if he did leave us to those heathens in the St George area.

When you visit here be respectful to both other members and those who turn out in the royal blue something you do not do. Coach Young has a lot of respect in Aarons ability and he did get us to the GF last year.

well excuse me BLUEBAG, you obviously hold Aaron in high regard! i only wish that he could put in a performance on the footy field of as higher standard as he is in your mind. as for showing respect to fellow forum members, my opinion is exactly that and knowing Newtown supporters they surely wont be as thin skinned as you are!
