9's over thank goodness, yet we got a look at Field, Dufty and imo we got to see Mann in his best role yet - controlling the play. Hopefully we'll see more of these 3 this weekend.

Other highlights for me were Sims and Host. I also liked what I saw from McDonald and want to see him in the proper format along with McInnes having a forward pack around him.

Hope we see more of Milne and Luciano this weekend. I also want to see Mose and Vaughan. JDB was great in D but needs to detox Mary out of his system, show some more mongrel and look for support players in A.

Surely we don't need to see more of Nonna, and we already know what McCrone, Lafai and KFL have to offer - should only be used in an injury epidemic.

Hope this weekend is a proper trial and we trial players with new combos rather than a practice run for McAnchors favourites.

What sort of team does everyone think the supercoach will name? I might even venture down to watch if he names a half decent side for the first 20-40mins.

Apparently the four internationals will not be playing and will only play against Souths. The coaches are stupid. If Widdop is in the halves he will have to work up a combination in the halves. What other stupid decisions will they make? We will enjoy watchong Lafai and McCrone play along with Marketo and Matthews. At least Mary is predictable!

Dragons name squad for i98FM Challenge
Tue 7th February, 05:00PM

The St George Illawarra Dragons have named a 23-man squad for their trial against the Wests Tigers at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on February 11.

The i98FM Challenge will see the Dragons clash with the Tigers in their second-to-last trial before the NRL season kicks off against the Panthers on Saturday, March 4.

The Wollongong faithful will get to see the likes of Jai Field, Jack de Belin and Euan Aitken play against the Tigers.

The Illawarra Hawks will play the Brisbane Bullets earlier on Saturday next door at WIN Entertainment Centre.

With a Wollongong sporting double-header on the cards, the I98FM Street Fleet will be in the grassed area on Harbour Street between 4-7pm with giveaways and prizes.

"Against the Tigers, we're going to have a young squad and a squad that all the coaching and performance staffs are looking forward to see play," Dragons assistant coach Dean Young said.

"I'm sure the fans will be excited to see the likes of Jai Field run around. They would've seen what he can produce over at the Nines so we're excited to see how he goes in the 13 v 13 real stuff.

"I think the trial is a reward for the Wollongong fans. They're a real passionate group and they always support the team," Young added.

"To have a trial down in Wollongong is great for the players and great for the fans and hopefully they all turn up. I'm just looking forward to seeing how our young guys go against men."

Ok Dufty nursing a knee so maybe can live with that.
Why on earth such a huge squad of 23 players?
Some will get very little game time at all.
Surely no need for FFL, Marketo, Matthews, Mc Carthy to play.
No doubt someone will say well they are the experienced players and we need them and I say we should be playing as many of NRL side as we can and top up with the players contending for the vacant / contentious positions.
Looks to me like Widdop will be 5/8 and the others chasing the 7 jumper but surely we want to see what a combination with Widdop looks like at least.
