While I think keeping Madge on is ultimately the right call, there is a part of me that seriously doubts he actually managed to talk his way out of being fired. Something tells me the pick of the litter when it comes to replacement coaches was pretty thin, especially if Flanagan knocked them back.

So how many ex coaches would that make it now still on their payroll?
Whist I understand you’re being tongue in cheek here, last time we sacked a coach was 2017 - 11 of the other 15 clubs have changed coaches since then, only Bellamy, Robinson, Stuart and Arthur still remain. Whilst it’s a cute narrative that we are a sack happy club, we have sacked 3 coaches in 18 years (one of whom was sacked as a consequence of his contract expiring).

I know there's more to it in the background with the JV and it's structure with funding, etc. than just say 'relocate fully to Campbelltown', but the people of Campbelltown and surrounding areas have been dudded. They get 4 or so matches a year, generally out of Sydney teams. I live 'next door' in Camden, and the perception here, at least with the schools, is that Souths do more than the Tigers. But if they have more of a prescence in Campbelltown, like base themselves in that area but still have a few matches a year at Leichhardt, it may be a good start.

Here's a positive move for them at least - goes back to the old group 6 days before Western Suburbs Magpies permanently relocated to Campbelltown back in the late 1980's.

East Campbelltown Eagles is the biggest Club in the Macarthur Wests Tigers junior league with teams from under 6's through to open age plus a team in the Sydney Shield who are the feeder team for Wests Magpies Ron Massey Cup side.

After a year of discussions among a steering committee comprising representatives of the NSWRL, Wests Tigers Macarthur, Group 6 and Wests Group Macarthur, the decision was made to form a combined conference with the goal of improving the competitive balance of both rugby league districts.

The combined competition, known as the NSW Rugby League Macarthur Conference, will commence in 2022.

The new competition structure will see a combined conference system from under thirteens to first grade, with the open age groups to be comprised of existing regional clubs.

The move will not affect Under 6s to Under 12s, who will remain in their respective Group 6 and Wests Tigers Macarthur competitions.

The Macarthur and Southern Highlands Region boasted 7,034 participants in 2021 and the move towards a combined competition structure next season will ensure a more competitive balance for participants and create a better pathway for development.

There’s no quick fix for the Tigers - mud sticks, so they’ve no chance of attracting big names in the short term. The start of fixing them is accepting they need a long term plan, a good old Gus 5 year plan. They need to document which players they’re going to be letting go at the end of their contracts and start their succession planning. Put their time and money into buying youngsters with lots of potential, not to play in the NRL in 2022 or 2023, but building towards 2024/2025 at the earliest. Gradually replace your overpaid and shite players with youngsters who’ll have been getting developed for a couple of years… Then as the joint starts becoming a fresher place to be, you might start snagging some better current NRL players. But they need to give Madge (or whoever) the freedom to do the job properly - if they lose a few games early next year and shit the bed by sacking Madge, they’re just extending the pain.

Bit of a dinosaur here, but do St Greg's and Holy Cross Ryde have any agreement with Wests??? I don't understand why the boarders can't play weekends in the Campbelltown/Ryde comps of a weekend (and hopefully day students as well) to build the sense of belonging and actually want to play for Wests after growing up through their junior system. I don't here this at all but it may be happening, just not publicized.

Back to the future? Wasn’t that the situation before the Magpies lobbed at tOrana Park?

Group 6 was a fair comp before Wests turned up at Alf Duguid/Orana Park so be good to see the Campbelltown sides playing in it again- Campbelltown City Kangaroos currently do

Still doesn't change the fact that at NRL level, they're Nomadic Tigers. They're the same club they were in 1999 just in different proportions - a joint venture with one side Balmain, and the other side Western Suburbs - and they're trying to keep both sides happy.

From a geographic POV, the money in the club is more aligned to Balmain and the Inner West - it's Wests Ashfield! This is probably a reason why they're resisting the move.

It's been more than 20 years. It's time to make a home and build for future generations who won't be following because of Balmain or Magpies. They'll be following Wests Tigers. And that home should be in South-western Sydney.

The Balmain rugby league district can still remain in their pathways, but the big boys will be in the Campbelltown region.

Looks like East Campbelltown Eagles will also field a Sydney Shield side. Be standing room only at Tint Me Up Stadium (Waminda Oval) with possibly at least 3 games each home game or more

East Campbelltown 5 senior teams in 2022 in the Macarthur Conference comp - under 6's to under 12's in their own district comps and under 13's /14's/15's/16's in the Macarthur Conference comp

Under 18's
2nd Division
Reserve Grade
1st grade
Women’s Opens

Sydney Shield

How many did Parramatta go through? 5?

Approximately that many, apparently

Yep...and over the last decade panthers have also gone through five and they've handily lumped Ivan's chickenshit bailout to the Tigers ledger...you could even put the riff up one if you include ciraldo's half a season. ...how smoothly did the Elliot. ..Ivan phase 1 and Griffin exits go and make them look?! They were the clusterf ck of the nrl not too long ago but the Brady Bunch by the river have short memories but that's ok ...WT are an easy mark right now but "they'll see you on the way up when you're on the way on down"...won't be too long before they turn on Ivan phase2

Dissolve this shambles of a club. Send them to Campbeltown and let them build a team the way the panthers have done. No one cares about the tigers anymore or that prime development land they call a home ground

Where's the context here?

Sure, some clubs go through coaches, but Penrith are now into their 2nd prelim final in a row. They had a plan to build a club from within. It's come to fruition now.

Wests Tigers on the other hand lurch from one mess to another. They have a culture of players influencing what they want. It happened under Robbie and Benji, and it seems to be continuing now. There's too much entitlement at that joint and the powers that be have done nothing to stamp it out. Each coach comes in attempting to put their mark on the place, but the players always win out. This is the fault of the fans who laud their good players, and the organisation itself who have rarely supported the incumbent coach.

It's not the coaches that are the problem at that joint.

The club doesn't know where they are, who they are, or what to do to improve. They're onto their 5th coach and have regressed.

Now, some good things appear to be happening with Kimmorley coming onboard and building from within. It took Penrith 5-10 years for it to come good. Wests had gun Cup and Flegg sides this year so it looks like the talent is there already. But if they slip into the same old Tigers culture of the last 10 years, then what good will they be?

Hopefully for their sake, Sheens sorts it out.

Parra finished 6th - Chooks finished 5th

Very observant, comrade!

Unsure what that has to do with the number of coaches Parra went through before finally deciding changing them like wet socks wasn't the answer, but kudos to you for having eyes anyway

You know who I reckon could get the Tigers out of this mess?
Blocker ‘big forwards up the middle’ Roach and Benny ‘back in my day’ Elias.
Imagine seriously airing these blokes view. Some of your best work Hoooooops.
God, for a second there I thought you were being serious.

There needs to be change at board and CEO level - plain and simple.

Sheens is not the saviour the media are making him out to be. There is an 8 person WT board and 3 of its members actually sacked Sheens in 2012. It's crazy to think those same fossils are still in the job
