Trouble Sleeping?

After reading some of the replies in other topics, i am glad it was not just me who had trouble sleeping last night. I am a fanatical supporter of Parra, and that will never change. But really, i must get another interest in my life. But to turn your toes up like we did, was very un-nerving.

I agree....i sat in the stand yesterday and remembered afew years back when the whole stadium was packed and the atmoshpere at the ground was electric....and we didnt need that stupid loud speaker trying to start the "parra" chant...we started it ourselves!!.....dam i miss those days.
Its just too depressing to think that ill probably celebrate a premiership when i have a walking stick in my hand!

Reading a few posts, it sounds like this is the most crushing defeat we have had in decades. To hear good, loyal, passionate Parra fans openly muse aboiut giving up on the club is really sad. I can understand that thought, but I know to do so will require a hell of a lot ofdiscipline. And even if I decided NOt to watch them next weekend, I'll still crane an ear at the radio, hunting for the score. I'll still yearn for Parra to be fling high like they did under Gibbo. When I take interest in a team in the non-Parra semis, and see 'em win, I'll still wish it was Parra.

I'ts in the blood. That's why when the Smith lovers crap on that they are the only true supporters really shits me. They don't feel the loss. They don't give a rats that the team is down. They don't feel the pain of the club, only the pain of the coach.

I'll still support Parra. I always have, and always will. Just not with confidence.

I suppose you have really hit the nail on the head here. I will always support the eels. But i will go to every game for the rest of this season with a re-adjusted expectation. No longer will i go to games, as i have previously, with an expectation that we may win. I will actually go with an expectation that we may very well perform extemely lamely. Maybe then, i will not leave myself open to disappointment.

That's right Misty. The club is bigger than any one coach, or any one player. Anyone who takes time out of their day to actually sit down and type something on their computer about the club whether it be pro-Smith or anti-Smith is a "true Parra supporter" in my eyes. Why? Because the fact that we're in here arguing about it shows that we all give a sh!t about the club and our team. Ultimately we all want the club to have success, we just might not agree on how the club should go about achieving it that's all.

it's in the blood allright!!

I'm as pissed and disgruntled as the next bloke but no matter how bad we're travelling or who's fault it is? I'll be proudly wearing the club colours on friday screaming at the ref, chewing my fingernails, punch the air in delight and slap myself in dispair!!

why?????

this club next to my wife and family is my f**king life! and the two things they bury me in when go under are my wedding band and the club jersey!!

sorry I'm getting a little emotional! but it's times like these you learn to appreciate the good things about life and this club ie: fellow supporters and a great homeground. and when we finally get back on track whether it be next week or in 2007!! think about the tough times we've gone through and appreciate it!!

Over the last 18 or so years I can,t recall the amount of times I have said, "Stuff this, why do I support this f&%cked club, they are killing me" I usually follow this up by swearing and carrying on, driving my wife nuts.

But as soon as the weekend arrives I just cant seem to pull my myself away from watching the eels and yelling as hard as I did the week before.

All of you guys are right.............The eels are in my blood and I will never ever be able to stop supporting this great club. Yes I get mad and yes I loose the plot sometimes but that all because I care about our great club. Players and coaches come and go but the might eels will always come first in my heart.

My wife always says to me...jeeez I really hope you will forgive me as many times as you forgive those damn eels. My relpy.............I had better not say.

It may take time but we WILL bounce back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My missus is not a footy head at all. Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

When Stadium Australia opened, I grabbed the windo of opportunity and took her to the double header. We watched as Newcastle flogged Manly, and she loved it. The Parra came on, and I was so intensly involved in the game that she swore never to go with me again!

I have been told I am near on unbearable when I watch the football, and especially when the Eels are on the wrong end of the scoreboard. The wife now knows more about football then a lot of my mates as it was a case of if you can't beat them join them........
