Hi haven't posted in the forum for a long time but I wanted to give my thoughts on, what in my mine, was the buy of the season in securing this guy. Saw him a few times last year playing for the Broncos and he was annoying, painful pest. Mouthing off at players and getting agro. I kinda fell for him them. When I heard he'd signed for the Knights, I wasn't overly excited but I didn't think he was a Kirk Renoldson signing either. His start for us was in turmoil, on the back of the failed Ponga 5/8th move and his concussion problems. But he's made the spot his own and IMO, he, along with Crossland are the two most improved playes in the team. I love the way Tyson niggles players and then takes it if they niggle him back. You know Tyson won't be the one thjrowing the first punch, but he'll happily take on to get us a penilty. I really love that in a player.

Anyway, like I said haven't posted in ages, so kinda long winded.

In short, Tyson is god!

Go the Knights!

Has his faults, but worth his weight in gold for his energy, enthusiasm and will to win. The niggle is always fun when he's your pest out there giving it to opposition.

Definitely continues to improve as a player as the year has gone on and I agree, he's made that jersey his. I thought he'd be a handy backup at best, but he's an out and out first grader now.

Love the bloke. We’ve long talked about how he lacks actual talent but makes up for it with effort and niggle, but he’s actually improving skill wise. His pass to Dom yesterday was sublime.

Hastings too. They’re definitely not a perfect halves pairing, but they’re perfect for us.

They're exactly what you want when you dump $1.4m on your star fullback. They're firmly in that mid-tier of halves that are NRL capable and will get you around, 110% effort, good defenders and don't break the bank.

It's so pleasing to have them both.

I feel like Gamble’s prior reputation will always cloud people’s perceptions of him, if you just watched him this season and knew nothing about him you’d come away thinking he’s a quality 5/8th just behind the top tier guys.
I love his competitiveness and just how much of a dog he is. Last year we had Clifford who is a much more naturally gifted player but had off field issues, homesickness, etc and you just weren’t really sure how much he wanted to be out there, you weren’t sure how much desire he had in him, with Gamble rain, hail or shine you know he’s going to turn up and have that fire in him.
I think the thing with Gamble is his reputation, his terrible haircut, larrikin character and all those little things will always drag down his value, based on his form this year he’s probably worth $500k a year but there’s not going to be many teams throwing big money at him so you’d probably get him on unders

I don't see why people think Gamble is crap? Defense, attitude is excellent and knows how to execute his role perfectly in a good system. Add to that his pest persona and his weird but fantastic kicking technique and if argue he is a top 10 half in the league.

It’s like the room of scouts from the movie moneyball, they see bad haircut, he’s not the most graceful or fluid player, he’s also got the journeyman tag as well as the niggle in his game, it just doesn’t fit the carbon copy profile of a 5/8th.

I want to know who taught him how to defend, 3 months ago he was an arm grabbing turnstile and now he looks like trevor gillmeister. Most games he pulls off a one-on-one try saver against an edge forward by cutting them in half.

Apparently he was on a podcast and said he's being working with Rory Kostjasyn, give him a bonus if so.

His technique has been marvelous on our line lately. I don't think any of the players want to be the one to let the team down at the moment. Very healthy mentality, and incredible to fathom given where we've come from.

Everyone's on line defense has improved significantly. We are so strong in the tackle. If Rory Kostjasyn has been our tackling coach, we need to give him raise!

FTR, I'm not diminishing the impact Jackson and Greg have made on the team. Very slim margin for the signing of the season for me. Arguably the three best signings, from outside clubs, in the same year, in our history.

He’s one of the bigger 5/8ths around in terms of frame and build and he’s certainly not shy or timid so there’s no reason why he should be a poor defender. I feel like a lot of his missed tackles were a result of him rushing up trying to lead line speed often at the expense of proper technique.

We thought he would be a depth signing at best before the season so the way he has come on is incredible.

A bit picky given how much he has improved but I will say the mid to long range kicking needs work, but that's a bit of a team wide issue.

It’s been a quite unexpected to see you guys come along so well this year.

It’s been organic, players reaching up.

No billion dollars buys or donut eating holiday-makers.

Excellent.

Only way clubs like ours can improve. Don’t have the TPA $$$ or appeal being out of Sydney to lure too many established stars here to rebuild a club quickly that way which teams like Roosters, Broncos, Souths, Eels have the luxury of.

Even our single million++ player wasn’t on half of that when we signed him.
