So the last Tigers team are out of the semis. Seems like they had a ton of talent but as is common in Tigers teams could not put a full 80 minute performance in.
But looking towards the future, who does everyone see the future first graders coming from this team?
I see that most of the talent comes from the forwards. Of the 4 or 5 games that was televised this year I would say the two front rowers and two second rowers seem to have the potential to take there game to the next level. I particularly liked Funaki and he always reminds me of Sika Manu which is the type of second rower we are missing.
With the backs apart from Martin I don't see any potential first graders. I don't see the big winger Odgen being able to transfer his try scoring record to the top grade. The two centres have talent, particularly Haleta(sp) but neither seem to have the type of speed or size that could transfer to firsts.
The best prospect is Martin. As a ball player he reminds me of Shaun Johnstone when he was playing 20s. As long as his body develops to withstand the physical demands, he will be a very good player but given we already have Brooks, Moses and Tedesco it will be interesting to see if we can find a spot for him or if he has to go elsewhere for a shot
