Adaptation of the Stephen King boom of the same name. Think Lost meets The Simpsons Movie. Pretty good pilot. Lots of questions that, unlike Lost, should have an answer given the book is done.

Anybody else watching?

Yeah , watched the first episode the other night.

Without having read any of the Stephen king material , I can't help but feel the opening episode was a little hammy.

It likely suffers from being on broadcast TV , not cable.

Ten have shown the first two episodes, it's pretty rubbish.

Other than the copper none of the characters are likeable and they waste so much time on irrelevant shit.

I love Brian K Vaughan as a comic writer, Y the Last Man is probably my favourite series along with Saga and Ex Machina which are excellent also.

But he is struggling to adapt this to television. The book focuses so much more on the actual struggle within the dome instead of worrying about the dome and how it got there. The complete lack of main character empathy is probably a result of this.

Now I wonder where it gets its inspiration from... hmm...

If you think it is bad now stop.

The characters in the book were quite good, but the ending was just rubbish.

Since the characters aren't translating to the small screen at all then I think it will end up sucking even more.

The first episode looked promising, but for a network of its size, CBS has not been particularly adventurous in either effects or casting. When you're most recognizable names are Hank from Breaking Bad and Frank from Lost, you're phoning it in.

Never did finish the book (one of the few King books I couldn't get into), but do remember it being more character driven than 'Dome driven.

This weeks ep will take a massive departure from the narrative of the King story..

Apparently the Dome will come down..

I imagine they bought the rights off King, with the proviso that they are able to change it..

I only read the book because i'm a King fan boy..

It's not one of his better stories..

The ending was weak too..

How does 'Under the Dome' work without the Dome?

read the book and while it was good in some aspects, it fails with the ending.

i'll treat it like misery - read it once and never see the movie/tv series.

Sounds like they are trying to screw it, agree with the ending of the book was pretty crappy. I think I'll give it one more week.
