Does anyone know when the updated world rankings will be released? They hinted that it would be soon a week or 2 ago. I'm very interested to see how far Wales/USA climb they should both be top 10 IMO wales as high as 5th maybe!

1.NZ
2.Australia
3.England
4.Samoa
5.Tonga
6.Wales
7.France
8.Fiji
9.France
10.PNG

If Samoa and Tonga put out full squads every clash I have no doubt they would be 4-5 and possibly place alot of pressure on England.

'well promoted' and rugby league internationals are an oxymoron

would be at a financial loss played in 20-30,000 stadiums

Whilst on paper both teams might have a strong side, the fact is on the international circuit both nations have been failures, with the only team they have beaten being themelves in the past 2 seasons.

i know they have been the two biggest games of the last 3 years, but the fact nz have only beaten australia twice in something like 10 or 11 games, and lost a series to gb 3 years ago will not earn them enough points to be ranked number 1 in the world. the points are accumulated over 3 years and they simply havnt done enough and havnt been consistent enough.

full strength tongan and samoan squads have been smashed by png and beaten by ireland, england would put 40 on them. they are nowhere near the top 5 and wont be until they start producing some of their own players and stop relying on players who would rather be playing for aus or nz!

Just you watch the poms and Kiwis complain when they read this bit of reasoning. Lets see who's first to bitch.

Anyone that puts NZ as number 1 is an idiot.

They've won 2 games out of the last 13 against Australia.

one off "tests" only count if you're australian. The rest of the world sees them for the money grabbing sham they are..

aussie deserve their #2 spot, they are gutless when it comes to a 3 match series..

nice rankings btw...

The comments about the mid year tests just go to show more and more why they need to be removed, or alternatively why a proper 'multi-test' (whether its 2 or 3 Test series) mid-year event needs to be added.

Currently all the mid-year Tests do is devalue the international product, because you get stupid skewed results because it's so hard for the Kiwis to perform in the mid-year concept.

Really if you look at the past two years between the two nations, the result should be:

Kiwis 1 win, Kangaroos 1 win, 1 draw.

But its skewed with the two mid-year results which make it look Kiwis 1 win, Kangaroos 3 wins, 1 draw.

Rugby League International Scores 2010 World Rankings

December 24th, 2010
By Daniel Andruczyk

With the International Season Officially over for the year its time to get the world ranking out again. Once again The RLIF does not seem to have any official rankings out so Rugby league International Scores has got its ranking out again as a guide. Last years ranking stirred a lot of controversy and debate as many of the “Top Teams” were listed very low. This year some teams have gone up and down but certainly a few surprises in there again.

Rugby League International Scores World Rankings

Year Ending: 01 Jan 2010 – 31 Dec 2010
Number of teams: 40-45

The RLIS world rankings aim to not only show the losses and successes of individual nations, but also reward the teams that actually get out there and promote and spread the game of Rugby League around the world. I can guarantee it will most probably not agree with and indeed stir controversy with most people out there since they will see things through only the biased, black and white, eyes of a full national game, rather than seeing all the other hard work that goes into running the game. Here I try to paint a more colourful picture with the rankings of the over-all state of the sport world-wide.

test matches are test matches, you are still representing your country. yes, the one off matches in their current format are not ideal (the fact they are played on the same weekend as nrl matches are disgraceful), but both teams have an equal lead up and this year nz have the opportunity to host the game. the match itself doesnt hold the same significance as a four nations or a world cup of course, but if nz cant perform, no matter what time of the year or whatever tournament then it will count against them in yearly rankings. imo australia would still be ranked number 1 in the world due to their consistency over the whole of the last 3 years, but i would rather be world and four nations champions any day of the week. until nz improve their consistency they wont be ranked number 1.
