Actually, no. HB is a type of pencil, which has a neutral lead hardness and darkness. It then goes B, 2B, 3B etc for softer leads which are darker, and on the other side you have H, 2H, 3H etc.

Of course if there's no lead in your pencil, that's another problem entirely...
