Van Halen 3 - A Year To The Day

I know it wasnt there most popular album and Gary Cherone was never going to find it easy to please the Roth/Hagger fans but I thought he put everything into his live performances and gave it his best.

One particular reason im glad they did the album Van Halen 3 is because of the song A Year To The Day.

I love the guitar work and the way it builds from a slow, sad, deep moody feel into a kick ass chorus with the awsome guitar squeal thing Eddy does to take it into the chorus.

A also like the guitar meoldy that kicks in as the song is building to its finish. The guitar solo isnt to shabby either though ive never been able to find any tabs for it.

Anyone else think this is a great song that stands out from the rest on that album?

It's a very good song actually. There are a few tracks on that album that are under-rated - Without You with the off key finger tapping at the start kicks arse. From Afar is good too, as well as Josephina and of course the atmospheric Once.

The only thing I'll say is that as much as I love Extreme, Cherone just didn't quite match the Van Halen style for some reason.

I kept waiting for him to break out into "More than Words" .....but it was a good album and beats some of the stuff I hear today!

The old DLR reunion.....almost happened in about '97 with the 2 new songs in the best of album.

After the collapse of the reunion with Hagger a year or so ago I doubt we will ever see Van Halen again as a band.

Ed looks terrible and looks as though he is drinking himself to death last picture I saw.
