yep just another one liner that had no thought behind it, though i was happy to have Voss on the show as he is one who only wants to talk football issues

Haha!!

Way to put an end to the "best in the NRL" debate Fatty! One of the best of all time!!

(he'd probably say that about Melbourne too though :D )

Hayne, Inu, Tahu, Grothe - 4 of the back 5 have played for their country. Not many teams in history can boast that.

Vautin doesn't even seem to care about previewing/reviewing/analysing footy games anymore. He's just full of throwaway careless lines and more verbal diarrheoa than usual

The footy show is just a joke all round

Sorry Saab... it was great but the best backline i've ever seen was...

1. Brett Mullins
2. Ken Nagas
3. Mal Meninga
4. Rueben Wiki
5. Noa Nadruku
6. Laurie Daley
7. Ricky Stuart

1994 Canberra side vs 1998 Brisbane side is a game i would pay $100 to watch.

God get over it people, its just a random comment Vautin passed, i'd take what he says with a grain of salt.

When they talk about the Parra backline you have to realise that they are really just talking about the abundance of skill that the outside backs have. I doubt anyone thinks that Finch and Tim Smith are at a level that puts them in the best backline of all time.

Anyway, best overall backline is easy:

7. Sterling
6. Kenny
5. Grothe
4. Ella
3. Cronin
2. Hunt
1. Taylor

5 absolute legends, 1 NSW player, and 1 versatile fullback who used to get into the front line and make 50 tackles a game, and could also play halfback.

Game Over.

1. Matt Bowen
2. Ty Williams
3. Josh Hannay
4. Paul Bowman
5. Matt Sing
6. Jason Smith
7. Jonathon Thurston

would have loved to have this lineup at their best, all QLD origin reps.

But you didn't have them at your best, did you?

Best Qld club team backline - I'll take the 92-93 Broncos over the 98 model.

Behave. That team was structured to take advantage of the 10 metre and tackling rules that year. It was dummy half running and touch footy.

Put the Eels current backline in that situation and they'd tear up even more than the 01 team did. The difference being that the current team might have been good enough to win the Grand Final too, the 01 team wasn't.

If we are playing that game (we dont have much in the halves but!!)

Hayne
Inu
Lyon
Tahu
Grothe
Dykes
Timmy

All in the form of their life Lyon and Tahu 2001, Grothe 1999, present Hayne and Inu. Pace to burn and would ruin any team even if Cragie was at 5-8. Dykes in 2001 form and Timmy in 05/07 form. That would have to be one of the strongest backlines you could field.

Keen observation there, what tipped you off? was it where i said i "would have loved to"? :sarcasm:

Well what was the point of your post?

Did you want to turn this into a 'best of' backline discussion.

Oh, I go Johns, Kenny, Grothe, Renouf...

pointless.
