ROCK band Velvet Revolver have parted company with lead singer Scott Weiland, the group said today, one month after the frontman was charged with driving under the influence of drugs.
A statement on Velvet Revolver's website said Weiland had been axed because of his "erratic behaviour."
"This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100 per cent committed to either," said guitarist Slash in the statement.
"Among other things, his increasingly erratic on-stage behaviour and personal problems have forced us to move on."
Other Velvet Revolver founding members Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner backed the move.
Weiland, 40, was arrested in November last year after his car crashed on a Los Angeles freeway. He was arrested after refusing to take a sobriety test and was charged last month.
The former Stone Temple Pilots singer, who has a history of drug-related problems, faces between one week and a year in prison if convicted.
