He trudged the street's with purpose, his night vision not impaired despite his eyes being covered by a pair of sunglasses. When he was this focused he saw everything. The streets were quiet, everyone preferring to stay indoors. After hearing of the destruction at Racoon City, outside seemed like an entirely different world.
Lighting his cigar, he took a long puff, the spark reflecting off his sunglasses. From the street he could see a dim purple light, two silhouette's embracing before falling onto the bed.
"Nice," the man said between drags. "Boobies."
A girlish laughter behind him, he turned, the house behind him was still but ominous, the door wide open without any sign of another living person.
"Oh Larry, spank it harder, Larry!"
He glanced back towards the purple room, curious, annoyed that he had a job to do. Teeth gritted, he dropped his stogie, stomping it out so he could take his shotgun in both hands. "Alright gruesome, come to daddy."
He kicked the already open door open further just to hear it slam against the wall. He feared no man, woman, or beast. The moment he stepped inside the door swung closed, but it only brought a grin to his face.
The girlish laughter swirled around him, shadows passing by, a ghostly figure echoing by, disappearing before he could turn to catch a glimpse of it. The house was pitch black, he still wore his glasses. When he was this focused, he could see everything.
Entering the living room, he paused, a young girl standing near the moonlit window, creating a silhouette of her. "Where are you taking him?"
The picture frames on the walls began to shake, but his shotgun remained aimed on her, even as he put another cigar to his mouth. The floor beneath him started to quake, but he calmly lit his cigar.
"Give me back my baby!"
The quaking stopped. Only then did he realise that it wasn't because of the little girl. He glanced over his shoulder, the quick exhale sparking a pocket of light. It was enough for him to see the axe coming down, split seconds before it cut him in two. Even with sunglasses, he saw everything. He just couldn't do anything to stop it.
