Did we just witness us grinding out a scrappy win?

Did Johnson close it out?

I'm not sure.

Not scrappy. SJ was very good. Just what we needed. AFB monsterous again. Our edges solid on both sides.
He could've put the game to bed with that kick and chase. Just bounce of the ball stopped him.

AFB had 100m in first half. We dominated the middle for a while. He also tackled like crazy. Such a valuable player.

Lodge far less effective. Stops cold when hit at the line. BMM had some good runs late in game.

How much better were our backs? Montoya excellent again, Kosi didn’t put a foot wrong and looks like he’s really improved in the off season, Arthars went ok and Pompey had some great touches, particularly settin Montoya up with the flick pass.

Just having a cool kicking game from SJ made more difference than we think. Hardly ever had to complain about a terrible end to set. But mostly we just held the ball better. When we finish sets we’re not a bad team.

I didn’t even know Pompey had that skill. It was an excellent pass.

Didn’t see that coming, Brisbane aren’t a good side but glad we showed we aren’t as awful as I feared

A pretty even-keeled performance all around, I thought. A nice surprise.

Was AFB listening to all the "Haas is the best prop in the game right now" manager-driven media stuff this week?

"Like f**k he is"

I thought Lodge got better as the game went on, too. Bunty & BMM solid, the pack as a whole did what I was hoping to see from them consistently this year. They *should* be beating teams in the middle. And an assured performance from SJ off the back of it.

I hope Egan is ok.

An evouragibe sign was Curran NOT standing out, when a player like him is best on park every week, you’re in a hole.

I thought we handled Hass well. He caused a few problems but couldn’t go beast mode on us.

Yip. Kicking game 10 times better. Reynolds still finding his feet but out shined by SJ today.

Phil MIA.

I was over at the RSL. Next time I'll take my tablet.
Sorry had a garden shed (3x3x2.4m) project that takes you way longer than you expect, eg all day.
Had Broncos mate come over to help, had to delay the game. Glad we did or he wouldn't of helped me finish it!
