Anyone heard what jersey we'll be wearing? They'll be in green which the NRL usually deem a clash and we have to wear white or something

Just had a look at their team, and it looks pretty injury ravaged and weak.

Definitely need to put the pedal down and put a score on them.

Massive danger game for us without stating the obvious.Goods signs last week we are on the improve (except for our diabolical kicking game) but a hell of a long way to go.

He came into the top grade as a winger with flowing blonde locks. But since making that debut way back in 2009, Dave Tyrrell has gone from a speedster and self-proclaimed ‘good looking bloke’, to a vital cog in the Rabbitohs engine-room up front. On Monday, he will play his 100th first grade game.
For Tyrrell, the notion that he would play his 100th fmatch – all of which have been in the red and green of South Sydney – came as a shock, the prop-forward instead pointing out that while he is proud of the milestone, Monday night is all about getting the win.
“To be honest I didn’t really know about it,” laughed Tyrrell.
“Getting that is obviously nice, but it’s just another game that we need to get a win for. I’m going to go out there and do my best for the team and hopefully celebrate a win.”
Tyrrell made his first grade debut in round 18 of the 2009 season against the Penrith Panthers at ANZ Stadium – a match Tyrrell still remembers well.
“My first game, I remember the long blonde hair,” laughed Tyrrell.
“I was a great looking bloke apparently. But yeah the first thing I remember was giving away a penalty.
“That shattered my nerves a little bit, but I stuck through that and I am where I am now. If anything I think it may have made me focus a little more throughout that game.
“Thankfully we won so it ended up not being too bad giving away that penalty.”
The Rabbitohs will be looking to make it two in a row on Monday night in Canberra, following a positive performance against the Parramatta Eels that saw the side take home a 32-12 victory. Having gone down to the Raiders earlier in the season, Tyrrell says he and his teammates are keen to atone.
“We’re expecting a tough game against the Raiders,” said Tyrrell.
“We went down to them last time, so we’re just going to focus on ourselves, get our game right and put in a good performance.
“It’s always a tough trip down to Canberra – it can be a bit of a mental battle with the extra cold down there and the trip, but like I said, we’re just going to be focussed on ourselves and getting that victory.”
The big prop added that he is certain that the Rabbitohs faithful will turn out in droves to throw their support behind the team in the nation’s capital.
“Our Members and supporters tend to travel everywhere,” said Tyrrell.
“Monday night in Canberra is a big ask, but if any team’s supporters are game enough to do it, it’s ours. They get out there and cheer us on no matter what the weather or circumstances, so I’m looking forward to getting out there again on Monday.”

Congrats Dave well done. Souths played very poorly in their loss to the Raiders earlier on this year. Tuqiri was notably poor in that game and dropped after it. See Goodwin is back, hopefully he can catch some high balls.
Raiders were pretty focussed in the first round and deserved their win. Raiders are such an unpredictable side, performance wise, can be world beaters one day and just terrible the next. They have some quality players so Souths should not take them lightly. Expect a strong performance by the boys after last week's game. Focus should be on building each week.

I hope Alex Johnston has been working on catching under the high ball as he is a bit vulnerable. In the match against the Gold Coast when Alex was fullback he dropped a few bombs. In the big matches the opposition will try to exploit our wings under the high ball so even Merritt and Reddy should be practicing bomb catching in case we need them for upcoming games.

George - Back to Back Wins Important

Words: Tom Skolarikis I Video: Chris Beavon
Fri 25th July, 02:17PM A A

Rabbitohs prop forward, George Burgess, is under no illusions when it comes to just how tight this year’s competition is, with the Englishman citing the importance of getting back to back wins in the NRL.
The Rabbitohs will travel to Canberra on Monday night to take on the 15th placed Raiders following their convincing victory of the Parramatta Eels in Friday night football at Parramatta in round 19.
For Burgess though, victory over the Eels was just the beginning. With a bottle-neck in the middle of the competition ladder that could see teams fall a number of positions on the back of a loss, the prop has cited the real importance of taking the points in the nation’s capital this Monday.
“You’ve got to string back-to-back performances in this competition to keep the two points rolling and keep up the top of the ladder,” said George.
“There’s a big log-jam in the ladder and if you lose a couple of games, you find yourself dropping out of the eight.”
Burgess agreed that his side’s performance against the Eels was a much-improved affair, with the Rabbitohs completing 32 of their 36 sets.

“It’s just little thing like that that can win you games,” said George.
“Those are the things we weren’t doing, so we had to pick up on those and the points started coming for us.”

Sam Burgess proves he's in a different league

Ultimate League
If South Sydney are to make a run for this year's premiership, there is one man they can count on to get them there: Sam Burgess.
Burgess became the first player to break the Ultimate League 1000-point barrier during his man-of-the-match performance against Parramatta last Friday.
His score of 90 was a season high for the Englishman and the most points for any player in round 19.
For one, he plays every minute of every game; for another, he is a competitor and does everything in his power to win footy games.
That adds up to statistics that have yielded an average Ultimate League score of 60 – third overall behind Robbie Farah and Paul Gallen.
The beauty of Burgess is his flexibility.
When the Souths are dominating, his attacking statistics come to the fore in the form of tackle busts, offloads and his uncanny knack of finding the try line.
Conversely, when the red and green are in a form slump, slammin' Sam can still churn out big numbers with ultra-consistent averages in defence (35 tackles) and attack (158 running metres).
For those who were lucky enough to pick him in the draft, he is an automatic captain selection.
For those looking for their own "Sam Burgess", here are my best three trades of the week:

 1. Bryce Cartwright: A superb 81 last week and a starting spot in the back row makes him priority No.1 this week.
 2. Chad Townsend: The red hot Warriors are scoring plenty of points making Townsend a very attractive option in the halves.
 3. Mitchell Moses: Five try assists on the weekend catapulted Moses into fantasy calculations. He will only get better with more games.
Ultimate League Team of the Week

 1. Dale Copley 80
 2. Marika Koroibete 53
 3. Ben Henry 89
 4. Keith Lulia 70
 5. Mahe Fonua 51
 6. Chad Townsend 68
 7. Mitchell Moses 60
 8. Ben Hannant 76
 9. James Segeyaro 71
 10. Sam Moa 56
 11. Sam Burgess 90
 12. Boyd Cordner 83
 13. Bryce Cartwright 81

Rabbitohs happy with halves switch-up

By Dan Walsh

Rabbitohs prop George Burgess, pictured here scoring a try in the side's loss to Canberra in Round 4, says players are used to the halves swapping roles. Credit: Robb Cox. Copyright: NRL Photos.

Michael Maguire's decision to bench Adam Reynolds last week with the game in the balance may have sent the rugby league rumour mill into overdrive, but his Rabbitohs teammates fail to see what all the fuss is about.

With Souths clinging to a 16-12 lead over the Eels last Friday night, MaGuire's call to replace starting halfback Reynolds' in the 64th minute first raised eyebrows, then paid immediate dividends when Luke Keary laid on a try with his first touch of the ball before two late tries wrapped up the 32-12 win.

Rumours that Reynolds was first on the outer at Redfern, then wanted a clear-the-air meeting with Maguire over his future, and by Monday was in talks about extending his contract with the Rabbitohs all took flight within 72 hours of the win, which firmly entrenched them in the top eight and snapped a worrying two-game losing streak.

As the Bunnies prepared for their trip to the nation's capital for Monday night's clash with the Raiders however, prop George Burgess said the halves switch hadn't come as a surprise to the side at all, and that if Reynolds was upset by the substitution as reported, then it hadn't shown around his teammates.

"No, I see (the switch) every week in training," Burgess said.

"They're always swapping around and mixing it up. It was just a bit of a rest for Adam and gave Keary a bit of a crack. He did great when he came on and it was good for the team.

"Adam's been sweet, it's not affected him at all. I don't know why people are making such a big deal out of it; we see it every week in training. There's nothing to worry about for him."

As Maguire continues to tinker with his attacking structure over the final third of the season, dummy-half Issac Luke even hinted that Reynolds had trained at hooker at times in 2014, and that he would have no issues if asked to make a similar switch during a game.

"We've got three great halves and we've obviously got to give them all a shot," Luke said.

"We're happy with how they're all going.

"Adam's had a little run at hooker (at training) and he'll go great. Whoever Madge throws out there we'll be happy with how they go."

Coming off the back of their last-start win over Parramatta to face the 15th-placed Raiders, who are out of finals contention and have only registered a single win in the last two months, shapes as a potential banana-peel for a Rabbitohs outfit bound for their third successive finals appearance.

Souths' last Monday night fixture produced the side's worst performance of 2014 – a fumbling, bumbling 14-10 capitulation to the Titans – but Burgess is confident the memory of another disappointing showing, a 30-18 loss to the Raiders in Round 4, would ensure the Rabbitohs are at their best come kick off.

"They came out firing and we were off that game so we've got a lot to make up for from the last time we met them," Burgess said, before adding that the Rabbitohs had been their own worst enemy in conceding four tries to nil in the first half of loss.

"We threw away the ball and gave too many penalties and gave them too much possession. You can't do that against any team in the NRL because it'll sting you."
