Well the roosters lost, now it's up to Souths to win to go two competition points up on them.

Especially as Roosters for against is not far behind us and Storm with their good win tonight move to 24 as well also the warriors and tigers can go to 24. We now have a good chance to hopefully consolidate our position.

Yes, but I don't think Souths are certainties for Monday night.

Burgess brothers want title with Sam

South Sydney hardman George Burgess says he and his brothers are determined to take advantage of their last chance to win an NRL premiership together.
Sibling Sam will depart for English rugby union at the conclusion of the 2014 season, breaking up the quartet of Burgess brothers at Redfern.
George will remain at the Rabbitohs with Luke and Tom in 2015.
The 22-year-old said the narrowing window to win the comp alongside three family members was spurring him on.
"We want to make the most of it because it's (Sam's) last year but we also want to win for the team," he said.
"We want to win every year. It's not just because he's leaving.
"It is that bit of added incentive, but you'd take (a premiership) every day."
Burgess said the fourth-placed Rabbitohs would go into Monday's clash with Canberra wary of the 15th-placed Raiders.
On paper, the game seems a mismatch but George says they still have fresh in their minds their round-four clash in which the Raiders ambushed their more fancied rivals, winning 30-18.
Burgess believed the side was well positioned to make a run for the premiership.
"We've just got to work hard at training and not worry too much about the ladder," he said.
"Everyone keeps talking about the ladder but I don't worry too much about that as long as you're at the right end of the table at the right end of the season."
Emerging half Luke Keary will play off the bench for the third consecutive game.
Against Parramatta on Sunday, Keary replaced No.7 Adam Reynolds in the second half.
Many expected that when Keary was brought on five-eighth John Sutton would move into the forwards.
But it appears coach Michael Maguire plans to interchange Keary and Reynolds.
Burgess denied Reynolds was under pressure to hold his place, instead describing the Rabbitohs' halves options as a luxury and the envy of rival sides.
"I don't know why people have been making such a big deal out of it," he said.
"We see it every week in training. there's nothing to worry about for him (Reynolds).

Rabbitohs Head Coach, Michael Maguire, says that he and his squad are looking to build consistency when they travel to Canberra on Monday night for their round 20 clash with the Raiders.
Maguire’s men put in a convincing performance against the Parramatta Eels in round 20, but for the Rabbitohs mentor, it’s all about backing that up this week.
“Every game’s an important one,” said Maguire.
“We’re very focussed about making sure we back up and get that consistency that we’ve been trying to find in the last few months.
“It’s really focusing on the things we did well in that game – our completion rate, and obviously defending strongly together as a unit.”
And according to Maguire, his team are giving themselves every opportunity to build on their performance by remaining focussed at training.
“The boys have been very focussed in these last couple of weeks,” said Maguire.
“We’ve learnt a lot of lessons over this last month and it’s taking that into Canberra.”

Luke - Plenty to Improve On

Words: Tom Skolarikis I Video: Chris Beavon

Rabbitohs hooker, Issac Luke, has set the bar high for himself when it comes to his performance on the field, with the Kiwi rake describing his performance as being ‘up and down’ this season.
Luke missed the majority of the first half of the NRL competition after sustaining a shoulder injury against the Wests Tigers in round three. Luke recently returned to the pitch, but by his own admission, the international still has plenty to work on.
“It’s been up and down,” said Luke.
“I haven’t been able to push out that 80 (minutes) – obviously struggle with fitness – but I’ve gotten back to how things were before I injured myself.
Despite his blunt assessment, Luke put in a work-horse effort against the Parramatta Eels in round 20, amassing 174 metres with the ball in hand and making a team high 33 tackles. Add four tackle breaks to the equation along with some opportunistic running that opened up plenty of opportunities for the Rabbitohs, and Luke was among the side’s most dangerous on park.
Luke will start at hooker this Monday night when the Rabbitohs take on the Canberra Raiders in Canberra in Monday Night Football.

Rabbitohs forward and former Raider, Joe Picker, says that Canberra are a dangerous outfit ahead of tonight’s round 20 clash against the green machine in the nation’s capital.
“I reckon they’ve been dangerous for countless years now,” said Picker.
“You never know what’s going to happen with them – obviously when they’re at home, they start strong, so we’re going to have to turn up and do a job.”
The Raiders boast formidable attacking power that will test the Rabbitohs defence on the fringes, in the form of Anthony Milford and Terry Campese – both of whom are capable of blowing the game wide open.
But for Picker and his teammates, tonight’s match is all about them, with the side looking to build on their round 19 win against the Eels as the regular season begins to wind down.
“You want to sort of finish the regular season strong,” said Picker.
“I suppose we’re just going to use every game from now til (round) 26 as a building step and hopefully finish the year strong and work into the finals.”

Can't believe we'll go 2nd if we win tonight. We haven't been anywhere near as good as last year. Having said that, as long as we peak come playoff time that's all that matters.

Souths Move Into Second Place

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have claimed second position on the NRL ladder after defeating the Canberra Raiders by 34-18 in Canberra.
Despite being just four points behind the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles on the NRL ladder, the Rabbitohs consolidated their ranking with the win, by now boasting the best attack and defence in the NRL (421 points for, with only 273 against).
Two penalties to the Raiders inside the first minute of play carried the home-side up-field, with Jarrod Croker taking the second opportunity to boot his side two points ahead after just two minutes.
But the men in red and green would punish the Raiders almost immediately, when a Greg Inglis wrap-around close to the Raiders’ line saw Dylan Walker eventually power over Croker on his way to the try-line in the far corner – the four-pointer putting Walker on an equal nine tries with Alex Johnston for the season. Reynolds missed the conversion attempt leaving the score at 4-2.
Johnston wouldn’t have it though, with Adam Reynolds taking the opportunity to chip the ball to the un-marked Souths Juniors’ winger, who planted the ball down in the same spot as Walker. Reynolds found the GIO Stadium upright to leave it at 8-2.
The Raiders nearly grabbed a four-pointer half-way through the first stanza, when Josh McCrone kicked across the face of goal-line to Alex Johnston’s wing who failed to cleanly diffuse the kick. A contest ensued in the in-goal, but the Raiders came up empty handed.
Souths continued to apply pressure to the Raiders close to their line, with Sami Suiluma dropping an Adam Reynolds kick in the corner on the last tackle to gift the visitors another set. The Rabbitohs took advantage immediately through Bryson Goodwin, who finished a back-line movement to make it 12-2. Reynolds missed his third conversion attempt from the sideline to take the sides to the sheds.
After the break, Walker and Johnston combined to produce one of the best efforts of the season, when Walker grubbered through the ball on the short-side into the in-goal. Anthony Milford misread the kick and instead of booting it out into safety for the Raiders, allowed Johnston to plant the ball down just millimetres inside the dead-ball line in brilliant fashion. The video referee awarded the try to make it 16-2, before Reynolds’ horror night with the boot continued from the touch-line.
Canberra hit back by scoring their first try of the night through Sami Sauiluma – the winger doing well to plant the ball down before being bundled over the touch-line to make it 16-6.
It was the Raiders’ turn to put pressure on the Rabbits, with the men in green nearly claiming another try through Sauiluma. But it was Souths who would score, when Dylan Walker created an opportunity yet again – Johnston taking a flick pass from Walker before drawing the Canberra fullback and passing on to a flying Adam Reynolds to score under the posts. Reynolds converted his first of the night to make it 22-6.
But Souths weren’t done, backing up the try with another on the very next set, this time through Bryson Goodwin – the centre scoring a Gearin-like try off the boot of Luke Keary. Reynolds added the extras to make it 28-6 with 12 minutes remaining.
The floodgates began to open for the Rabbitohs when Adam Reynolds crossed for his second of the night before converting. Two quick tries to Jarrod Croker and Anthony Milford for the Raiders weren’t enough for the home-side, the match finishing 34-18.

Rabbitohs 34 (Dylan Walker, Alex Johnston 2, Bryson Goodwin 2, Adam Reynolds 2, tries; Adam Reynolds 3 goals)
Defeated
Raiders 18 (Sami Sauiluma, Jarrod Croker, Anthony Milford, tries; Jarrod Croker 3 goals)

Great game by Reyno besides the goal kicks, good to see him step up in Sutto's absence

Yeah a great performance from Adam he was our best along with Walker, Johnston, Issac and congrats to Tyrell on his 100th he was solid as always. Adam is so gutsy and keeps playing on even with all the niggling injuries he gets. Hopefully Sutto is only out about 3 weeks and Sam is ok!

Sam has been cleared of any major damage. As for him playing on Sunday is anyone's guess at this stage.
