We're seriously missing Myles and Sa. And now Fitzy. GAH. With these 3 in we could drop Shillo and M Paea back where they belong in NSW cup. And Jones??? Why not Friend. Odd selection. I see Brown has been dropped...he started the year well but lately has been pretty average I guess.

Yer Jaubs has rightfuly taken that spot I hope he gets 80 minutes, we always attack best when he is on. You are right about M Paea he is not upto NRL level yet anyway and Shillo is just an average prop at best. We will miss Fitzy's hard work and leadership that is for sure, plus Paea is far better coming off the bench although it should be fun watching him run wide at wingers.

Injury Report

The Roosters sustained several injuries out of Sunday's loss to the Parramatta Eels with Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Craig Fitzgibbon both in doubt for this Friday night's game against the Melbourne Storm.
Kenny-Dowall has strained his medial ligament in his right knee and will miss up to four weeks.
Fitzgibbon rolled his ankle during the game and will be monitored during the week.
In good news for the Roosters, Mark O'Meley and Setaimata Sa are both likely to make a return for the big game at Melbourne's Olympic Park.
O'Meley, who aggravated an achillies problem in the win over the Cowboys in Round 21, will make his return after being rested for Round 22's Sunday game.
Sa will undergo a fitness test this week before the team heads to Melbourne.
The Toyota Cup team also sustained a number of injuries with Tom Symonds (corked calf), Dominique Peyroux (corked quad) and Martin Kennedy (corked quad) all to undergo treatment ahead of this Friday's game against Melbourne.
Jake Friend also suffered an ankle sprain and is unlikely to play this weekend

After reading that I don't think it is too serious otherwise they wouldn't be talking him up as a chance of playing this week.

Oh and that explains adamkungl's question about why Friend isn't playing instead of Jones.

Good news that Sa could be playing this week still.

SYDNEY Roosters are set to be without skipper Craig Fitzgibbon in Friday night's crucial showdown against Melbourne Storm.
It is a blow that could cost the NRL club a top-two finish.
Roosters coach Brad Fittler yesterday left Fitzgibbon out of his squad. He has an ankle injury that is expected to sideline him for at least a week.
The news of his likely absence was met with caution by Storm coach Craig Bellamy.
Bellamy, who has injury concerns of his own, said: "I'd be surprised if he ain't here.
"I know how tough he is and I know he was limping there on Sunday but he finished the game, I think. I'm surprised they haven't named him."
The Olympic Park battle is shaping as a decisive contest for both teams' finals ranking.
Melbourne can - temporarily at least - jump into outright first with a win, while the Roosters, who suffered an upset loss to Parramatta on Sunday, need to beat Storm to keep alive hope of a top-two finish.
A loss would give Brisbane a chance to overhaul the Roosters in the top four in the final month of the season.
Melbourne wingers Steve Turner and Anthony Quinn again failed to train yesterday, although Bellamy believes they will be right to play.
The Roosters will also be without winger Shaun Kenny-Dowall (knee), while hooker Riley Brown has been axed. Former Storm utility James Aubusson will wear the No.9 jersey.
Prop Mark O'Meley (achilles) will make his return from injury.
Bellamy said Storm remained on alert for the Roosters, despite their last-start loss and a five-day turnaround. Melbourne, in comparison, has a seven-day turnaround after a 16-10 win against Manly on Friday.
"I think they'd fancy their chances, coming down (to Melbourne)," Bellamy said.
"It's a game they've probably had on their calendar for a little while.
"I'm sure they're looking forward to it. The forward pack they've picked this week, they're quite big, so their intention is there."
Quinn yesterday ensured his availability for the Roosters' clash after entering an early guilty plea for a grade-one dangerous throw charge. Wests Tigers prop Todd Payten was slapped with a three-match ban for a dangerous throw charge.
BRISBANE'S Karmichael Hunt has been ruled out of the game against St George Illawarra on Friday, with Wendell Sailor named on a seven-man bench for the Dragons.
WINGER Geoff Daniela was the only man dropped from the Penrith team that crashed to a shocking 74-12 loss to Canberra on the weekend.
NORTH Queensland welcomes back halfback Johnathan Thurston for the clash against struggling Gold Coast.

I hope Bellamy is right about this and Fitzy does play, we will need his workload and leadership to pull off a win here.

The Sydney Roosters travel to Melbourne this Friday night to take on the Storm in an attempt to come away with the two competition points.

Olympic Park has been a place teams just cannot win at if statistics are anything to go by. In the last 40 games played at the “graveyard” the Storm have dropped just two matches.

The impressive streak is something James Aubusson is more than familiar with. He has been on the good side of that record.

This Friday night will mark the young rakes return to his former club and the ground he punished plenty of teams on.

Aubusson believes that the domination of the Storm in Melbourne is not a mental battle for teams to overcome but more of a preparation issue.

“I don’t think they’re better down there I just don’t think teams prepare well enough to go down to Melbourne,” Aubusson said.

“That’s what we used to talk about last year when I was at the Storm.
“It’s is a tough place to go but we’re looking forward to going down there,” he said
The Roosters are no strangers to winning on the road. The Tricolours have won four of their last six away games this season.

Aubusson acknowledges the Roosters will have to be on their game if they are to escape with a win.

“Of course we can cause an upset,” Aubusson said.
“Consistency has been a big problem for us and we’re trying to address that.
“Everyone will be on top of our game knowing we are playing the competition leaders,” he said.
The Roosters have beaten the storm in their last two meetings and Aubusson said that will be in the back of his former teammates head.

“I’m not sure. I don’t think anyone is really thinking about it,” he said.
“o be honest I don’t really care what they’re thinking.

“We have a job to do and the best way for us to approach the game is to look after our own backyard,” Aubusson said.

After the last start loss the Roosters will be eager to maintain their top four spot. Aubusson said that a home final would give the Roosters finals charge a massive boost.
“There’s a great emphasise on every two points,” Aubusson said.

“To beat these guys down there would be a massive confidence boost for us to really get a gauge
where we are sitting in the comp leading into the finals.
“There going to be in the finals and they’re the cream of the crop at the moment so it’s a real good test for us.

“Points are at a premium as always especially with the competition as tight as it is.”

I also forgot to post this in the original post but Foley is an extra, meaning he should be fit to play. If Grose plays ahead of Foley I would be pretty angry tbh, I know Foley is fairly inexperienced but that can't be an excuse - We dropped Brown for Jones who is debuting.

I hope that Sa is fit to play and we use him off the bench instead of M Paea as a second rower, as we will need his great ball playing and great runs to wear them thin so we can use those cross field moves that have been working well for us out wide.

Im starting to loose confidence in our team selection, how the hell does Grose get picked ahead of Foley, I watched Newtown last week, Grose dropped a perfect ball which would have led to a try, he just seemed to slap it down, and then last nights performance, abysmal!!!! Foleys positional play, the way he chimes into the backline which usually puts his outside man into space and his meters from dummy half would have at least helped last night, Grose just hurt us, PLEASE LEAVE HIM OUT. Please give Foley a go,and he is born and bred an eastern suburbs kid

Bloody Hell....

Where to start? Our back 3 were atrocious Grose the worst by a mile, Perrett tried hard just wasn't our night and Roberts needs a search party to find him.
Maubs and Soliola didn't go too bad considering the lack of ball they had to work with.
Anasta and Pearce that was probably their worst showing of the year unfortunately. Our long kicking game was to Slater on the full every time I don't know what happened to the gameplan that worked well for us the last 2 times when we kicked it out.
O'Meley solid but not at his best, Shillow still average but can't complain so was everyone, Shackleton was good he put 110% into all his hitups, M Paea I hardly even saw.
Tupou was good...when he actually touched the ball he only took a few hit ups, Cherrington same as Tupou, Mason never to play lock again. L Paea not as good as what he would be coming off the bench.
Jaubs was unlucky finally he earns the starting jersey and then gets K.O'd twice in the space of 2 minutes. Ben Jones was not bad I see potential in him.

All I can say is we need Myles, Sa, FPN, Fitzy back very badly!

I think that we need a bench with at least 2 recognized props on it, plus a second row and utility. I think Sa could do as a replacement hooker if need be and we slot Maubs into centre, Freddy used him as a half back last year so he should be capable.
