Wa govt approached pvl for a team

Having informal discussions is not the same thing as

2 formal license applications, 2 x formal business cases and feasibility studies, several legislative body enquiries at state level, a federal senate enquiry, state and federal funding and stadium commitments - and all PRIOR to the license being provisionally granted.

Like I said, Tasmania were desperate to get the AFL license. WA are not. They'd like one, and they'll support one, they are not desperate for one.

Note that possible $12m for rugby league grassroots is more than the $11m per year the WA Gov gives to the WAFC for AFL grassroots and local league as part of their Optus Stadium move.

Nah it’s exactly the same

Diddums lol

Perth wasn’t on the radar till the wa govt came knocking

But it’s funny you think it’s ok for Tasmania to fund an afl team but Perth not spend the same money on a league side

West Australian Premier Roger Cook has launched another impassioned plea for the NRL to bring a team to Perth as the race for a 19th and 20th license ramps up.

And the premier believes a team in the west would be an economic boost.

NRL boss Peter V’landys says Cook “rings me every day” over the matter as the State competes with bids in Brisbane and New Zealand — where teams are already located.

Its not and you know it. No formal applications or funding offers ever proposed. Informal commentary only.

No where did I say that
The Tasmanian govt was desperate for an afl team

The wa govt is desperate for an nrl team

Pvl sees the parallel and thinks we should be treated the same

The article you posted literally uses the afl funding Tasmania as to why the arl is asking the same

And these are pro afl journos

2 different governments numbnuts.

For starters, one is Liberal the other is Labor.

Believe it or not WA are within their rights to reject the NRL despite the protestations of a few pencil necks on LU.

The WA Goverment is not desperate for an NRL team. If it was it would have led the bid itself as Tasmania did. It didnt. The MacGowan government supported a third party bid as did the Cook Government.

It seems the WA Government doesnt. And I doubt it will. If it wants that treatment then maybe it should look at the rest of the AFL deal in Tasmania.

Oddly enough the $12m annual Tasmanian money isnt for Grassroots, its for the AFL team itself in order to make the team a viable operation (identified in the business case), the AFL is doing the grassroots funding in Tasmania as part of its own overall package.

In exchange, The AFL has also announced its own $360 million funding package for the new team.

That includes the stadium contribution and a $209 million funding commitment for the new club.

It also involves $10 million towards the high-performance complex, $33 million towards junior development and a $93 million funding boost for grassroots football.

Only tweets commentary of Carlton AFL games. No other team in any other competition. Has a biased towards the AFL being the biggest and best sport and limiting Rugby League’s growth.

Why does Matt think he gets to decide who posts and who doesn't?

He may be biased towards afl, but he contributes far more to lu than any of the cultists do.

You are correct, but the double standards here is f**kingunbelievable, tas govt spend 12million of our tax money on AFL, but if NRL do it, every cưnt and her dog has a bitch about it

It's not double standards to be rational and have an understanding of reality.

I wouldn't know what funding afl gets, it's only via you and your mate Tiktok that I know anything about that sport. Thanks for nothing.

I hate government funding of professional sport, including the AFL, but it's not going to stop happening. The NRL are well within their rights to try and get what they can.

All I'm saying is that the situation is not the same.

I also think that current bidders might be looking back at the dolphins and asking why so much is being expected of them comparatively in terms of license fees and grassroots funding.

You must be livid at the afl with how much money they’ve gotten from govts more than any other Australian football code combined

The poor rate payers of Blacktown got them to build a stadium for them then they left for breakfast point when their players didn’t like the demographic of the area

Then got another 100 million for faculties in Homebush

Or how the afl is spending over one hundred million on the ground the afl owns at Docklands

And over 1 billion on an afl Tasmanian team
