Warren Sapp Files For Bankruptcy? Ex-NFL Star Reportedly Broke, Has Lost Super Bowl, NCAA Rings

By Brad Biggs, National Football Post

Warren Sapp is broke. And he has no clue where his Super Bowl XXXVII and NCAA national championship rings are.

TMZ.com reports the chatty former defensive tackle turned analyst for the NFL Network has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Florida. The former 12-year veteran is considered a solid bet to one day be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This makes it clear the sooner he can hit the Hall of Fame autograph signing circuit, the better off he will be.

Per the TMZ reports, Sapp owes more than $6.7 million, including nearly $1 million to the IRS and hundreds of thousands of dollars in “support payments and alimony to at least 4 different baby mamas.”

Sapp claims $6.45 million in assets, which includes 240 pairs of Jordan sneakers and sandals, a Lion skin rug and a large nude women painting. He also has a De Grisogono watch but notes it has scratches on the crystal and band.

Sapp currently earns $540,000 per year working for NFL Network -- $45,000 per month – but according to the report his contract expires in August and he does not know if he will be renewed.

What’s interesting here is he claims to have lost the championship rings. Sapp’s Super Bowl ring from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would have considerable value as would his ring from the Miami Hurricanes. A cynic might suggest that the rings have been misplaced in order for him to not risk losing them as he settles debts. He told TMZ he’s not too broken up about missing the Super Bowl ring.

“That ring didn't make me a champion, my team and I did,” he said.

Hopefully, Sapp’s story will be a cautionary tale for young players to be prudent with their money. Unfortunately, there will likely be another player like Sapp to point to again in the near future. Hey, maybe now that the word is out there someone will turn up his rings.

How can these players, who earnt tens of millions throughout their career be broke? I just don't get it! Sure, guys like Manning, Brady et al will never go broke but guys like Dez Bryant, Terrell Owens and Sapp are out to ruin themselves.

Ex Bronco Travis Henry has at least nine kids to different women.

I hope they got it all on tape otherwise they'll only have the memories to keep them going.

.

why can't these athletes just pull out and blow all over the s**ts they're screwing?

surely those few seconds of pleasure after they cum aren't worth all the bills that come their way for the rest of their lives.
