Just to think they virtually mortgaged the leagues club to buy the peanut. And then that genius Junior Pearce decided he wanted Joel Caine instead of Hodgo. Right up there with the decision to keep Mark O`Neill instead of Luke O`Donnell.

Its funny to think we have won a comp and that we let players like Hoffman and Odonnell slip through the fingers. We would be a even more lethal outfit.

You`re telling me. Imagine O`Donnell and Hoffman running off Hodgo and Benji ??? We`d be unbeatable.

Mate I appreciate that you're trying to re-invigorate this forum and get active discussion going again, and hey, I'm all for having another space to discuss Wests in.

But geez if every thread is going to have a reference to the moderators on the official forum then this forum is going to get very tiresome very quickly.

You've made your point, you don't like the way the official forum is run. Does it have to be mentioned in every single thread no matter how irrelevant!

Players who came from Manly to Balmain during the 90's- Field, Dunley, Nable, Hancock, Magnus, Nevin, Chalmers...Homo Haumono indirectly.

Definitely quantity rather than quality

Were there anymore?

BTW Was Solomon Haumono originally a Tigers junior? For some reason I have a hunch that he was.

I was more reminiscing about Nick Graham

He was very much a missed player

The 2.7m average per hit up was very reminiscent of Tallis at his peak

I can't believe Bennett was after him when we were

Sheens and bennett after him .. 2 blokes who you would assume can spot a decent player

Lets not forget Trent Runciman in the equation

he regularly surged for 16 yards from 9 carries.

Hassen Saleh regularly got run down By Corey Pearson at training.

Kafusi's headaches, AFL Species gone wrong and Gridion passes.

All products of the Terry Lamb talent identification program.

Tigers beat Brisbane to the signatures of Graham AND Mears...We were laughing all the way to mediocrity...Maybe thats a bit harsh on Mears

Solo Haumono did play a season or two for Concord, i think he may have played a few games for the Kaouri with Mundine??? and he definately played a couple of seasons at Hurstville with Mundine.

Adam Nable was one of my favourite players. He was a decent to poor hooker. Field wasn't that bad either. I think we would have won a few more wooden spoons without him.

Craig Field was a very talented footballer, only he never reached his potential due to his own madness. We were travelling real well in the season Field and Kev McGuinness got busted.

Under the Guidance of Terry Lamb the season would of ended in the doldrums no matter what.

Field was the best "rags to ritches" football player of all time. He won alot of games for Balmain and collected 3 Dally M points alot of times. However he did put in some shockers. When his passing game and kicking game were off song it was real bad.

Still ignoring the fact that Hodgo signed with Parra before the jv had even been announced are we?

All coaches have suspicious recruitment stages

Just look at Lambs (runciman, saleh, mears, jefferies) and Sheens (miles, grahme, reynolds, nightingale, mcgann)

Pearce also rejected Jason Cayless who approached the Wests Tigers before re-joining parra then the roosters and offered to play for next to nothing to come to the club - great decision that was .........

Hoffman I understand the reason why he wasn't retained, sure we pay kids a bit out of the top tier cap now to retain them, however the amount he was offered to go to the Storm was in the same class as what we paid for Galloway this year but 2-3 years before that age even which in the financial state the club was in at the time was never going to be on the books and I can understand why he was lost

Exact same thing happened with Trent Waterhouse. Balmain punted him after one trial.

Oh not blaming hodgo at all, under the circumstances (wests future uncertain and parra offering good money) he did the sensible thing. Since he's joined the w-t there isn't anyone who could question his loyalty to the club.

And to be fair Hodgson went to a team that appeared to be on the verge of it. The 2001 parra side (reg season) is still one of the most statistically imposing sides in history. He almost won a comp there and has come back and won one with WT. He had to do what was right by him at the time with no certainty about Wests and where they were going

Nothing should be held towards Hodgo regarding the decision he made as I think all of us in the same position would of done exactly what he did, at the same time nothing should be directed towards Pearce for what took place regarding the JV as at the time (as alot of us remember like it was yesterday) everything did happen very quickly and everything didn't happen on the best of terms

Hodgo left but the main thing is that he came back, guided the Wests Tigers to a Preimership and is playing better than he has before

I was out in the City one night at about the time when the decision of the joint venture was first made. I bumped into a certain footballer who was a part of the joint venture`s plans and asked him about Hodgo. His response was that Pearce preferred Joel Caine over Hodgo and therefore Hodgo had little choice but to move on. It`s only hearsay, so it may or may not be 100% correct, but i can assure you it was straight from the mouth of a very prominent footballer.
