Warriors keep tabs on Inu.

The Warriors want to sign up Parramatta's Krisnan Inu as the NRL club continue their search for an outside back for next season.
The return of Timana Tahu to the Eels from rugby union means Parramatta have a wealth of talent at the back and out wide.
The suspicion is that could create difficulties under the salary cap, with the need to foot wages for the likes of Jarryd Hayne, Eric Grothe jnr, Joel Reddy and Luke Burt.
If that happens and Inu, who was injured late last season and missed most of Parramatta's thrilling run to the playoffs, becomes available, the Warriors would be interested.
The situation is reinforced by the need of NRL clubs to create a buffer so they can bolster the ranks to cover injury problems or if they have to pay bonuses for representative duty.
Inu is off contract at the end of next season. He is seen as an excellent recruit, not only for his ability but also his Kiwis connections which could bring extra fans to games.
Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah explains the rationale: "He's the type of player we're looking for and we're aware he's off contract at the end of 2010.

In terms of a time frame, we've made some inquiries - it doesn't look like there are any opportunities this year but we're still interested if circumstances change."
Inu is regarded as an 'X-factor' player, strong at both fullback and wing and with consistent goal-kicking.
But Scurrah has ruled out a loan arrangement if a strong Inu season meant they'd have to offload him again at the end.
"We wouldn't want him to have a stellar year and then have to hand him back. It's not a good look. If we can't convince the club to release him now, we'd look to the following season."
The Warriors had shown previous interest in goalkicking wing and fullback Burt who has since re-signed with the 2009 grand finalists.
Even though the club is believed to have salary cap cash to play with, Scurrah has stressed the need for quality rather than just making up the numbers.
"If we're looking at adding to the 2010 squad, it's on the basis the person will be better than what we've already got," he said. "We've got a reasonable amount of depth but some of it is inexperienced."
The Warriors do have some advantages on the player value-for-money scale. It's understood talented rookie Shaun Johnson will cost relatively little as his contract goes through until 2012.
Kevin Locke has also re-signed - he's also in the early stages of the salary curve.
There had been talk in league circles that the Warriors would not be disappointed if Wade McKinnon went elsewhere.
The fullback had a dip in form after a standout first season in 2007 before he needed a knee reconstruction. Scurrah has been quick to dampen down such talk.
"It's unfounded. There's been no discussion about him leaving, he's training exceptionally well and we're looking forward to a big season from him. But he's aware that we're looking for improvement from him, just like everyone in the club, including myself."
However, there's no guarantee McKinnon will be the first choice fullback with Locke in such hot pursuit.
"There's room for him to adapt," says Scurrah. "I'd say all positions are open and Wade's got as much chance of playing fullback as anyone else."

I am not too sure about Locke. Great talent but was surprised how he easily he got injured. And from fullback, if those in front of him dont pull up sox, he could be out again.

Keep Locke on the wing.

What has happend to Malo Solomona for 2010? Back to Richmond or Ponsonby?

Locke at fullback I believe he is ready to stand up and make that position his own. If Wade plays like how he did last season I wouldnt think twice at giving Locke a go. He did do a sh*tload tackling/mistackling/cover on defense last year and that wasnt just on wingers.

Hes 21 in April and he dont look like he is going to get any bigger in height.

So when do we try him?

When he has more NRL exprience playing wing?

And if Wade doesnt seem to have gained back his speed/impact do we perserve with him just because Kevin aint ready?

Or do we put Hohaia in there as caretaker?

And this is totally on Wade's shoulders as it is his jersey and how he plays should dictate what happens. I not saying he is to burst into 2007 form just have more of an impact than what a wingers or centre could do covering fullback. If Wade aint improved by the first 8-12 rounds give Locke a chance to get some experience at fullback under his belt.

You'll never know what could happen unless he is given the chance.

Plus what is this injury? and how easily he apparently got it?

Also..... Inu could be a good buy for 2011 if we decide not to resign Tate which IMO would be a dumb decision if we did, very dumb.

Great qualities in leadership, passion, finals and SOO experience but is really a winger unless Cleary can teach him how to pass which aint going, 2 season ending injuries to opposite knees in 3 years, he'll be 29 years old and that contract he is currently on would be a ridiculous price to retain him if he dont take a serious pay cut!

Locke, Inu and Vatuvei as our back 3 dont sound too bad to me or even he replacing Tate as centre.

Have to agree Skinz.
However.....compared to what we have and what we are paying he may be a good buy.
I have always thought it was a waste of money for the Warriors to pay big money for outside backs. Let's hope the new halves go some way to solving that problem.
The problem I see now is that the Warriors are going to have real problems attracting overseas players. Most class players will now go to successful, well coached teams for far less money than we will have to pay. Having a considerable proportion of our salary cap tied up in an outside back like Tate is a waste of resource - no matter how good he is.
This may have a positive effect if it means the Warriors put more effort into developing their junior strength.

Unless the new halves pairing pay off in spades, the Warriors recruitment policy of the last couple of years has been a disaster!

Inu is a bit sulky imo, its got to be going his way, and if its not...

I thought that about the middle of last season. But he played poorly in the last two games. Looked like he thought he could rest on his reputation.

NRL games ?

says it all really, Ivan was doing it his way

likiliki's the boy..

Yeah I think they have give him plenty of trial time.
He has the natural talent - definately physically ready.
Centre is the hard position to defend and easy to get shown up.
Even Jennings/ Lawrence some of the best young talents had serious issues with defence early on.

Put tate on left wing with likiliki and put locke fullback. DROP mckinnon.

Not 100% sold on likiliki but he definately worth giving a shot.
