Watmough Back For Knights Clash

"Manly coach Des Hasler has rushed young State of Origin forward Anthony Watmough straight into the starting lineup for Sunday's big clash against the Newcastle Knights at Energy Stadium in Newcastle.

Watmough has been sidelined since the Bulldogs match at Brookvale on June 26.

His inclusion in the second row with Steve Menzies allows the powerful back row trio of Watmough, Menzies and Ben Kennedy to be reunited.

The Origin representatives are vital to Manly's semi final hopes.

With Watmough back in the forwards, versatile Luke Williamson has been chosen at five eighth alongside skipper Michael Monaghan.
Five replacements have been named with one to drop out by kick off time on Sunday.
The Manly NRL side is: Brett Stewart, Paul Stephenson, Terry Hill, Ashley Alberts, Chris Hicks, Luke Williamson, Michael Monaghan (c), Jason King, Chad Randall, Brent Kite, Anthony Watmough, Steve Menzies, Ben Kennedy.
Replacements: Shayne Dunley, Nathan Tutt, Sam Harris, Kylie Leuluai, Mark Bryant(one to be omitted)."

look out Knights Manly is at full strength with one of two exceptions since Witt is still in PL.

Witt is not a 1st grader until he can learn to give the backs some ball. Manly full strength won't worry the Knights, they are on fire at the moment.

I dont get the rushed back - he was going to play last week but was ruled out to be on the safe side.

either do I, but I'm glad Manly played it safe and waited until they were sure Choc was 100% before bringing him back. Rainman it should, we were full strength I think the last time we played Necastle and BK was all fired up to be playing against his old club I guess he'll be fired up again because this time it's in Newcastle.

Manly will go well this weekend, having their big 3 back together in the back row will be a huge boost for the Eagles.

Yes! I was very confident last week :D. I had been waiting for the Broncs to play Manly at Brooky for a very long time. They hadn't played there since 1999.

Now that Witt is gone, maybe just maybe, things have started to turn around...

I don't think the Knights can continue to play that well consistently. No other team in the competition, bar one, has been able to do it and I can't see them doing it.

I remember saying awhile ago that I couldnt wait for Broncos to play the Sea Eagles at Brookie so Eagles could beat them, and I was right :).

Should be a tough game.
Nice opening the sports section and seeing 'injuries- nil'.
Has Heckenberg been given the arse or something? I saw him in PL last week and he seemed to be going well, or at least better than King has.

Hecks was ok, but not running riot - still looked underdone. Add to that King came to play for once and went ok. Bryant is doing Hecks job well, basically no need to rush him back.

I have to agree with rainman that witt has been limitiing our backline - they saw more ball last week. If beaver can mark joey like he did jason smith we have a good chance. Watmough will be very hard to contain im sure.

This game is a 50/50 in my opinion but it should be a good one

Hey Manly Fans should be a great game this weekend. The two old rivals going head to head in front of what should be a sellout crowd. As of midday today 4000 GA tickets were left but these are being held for game day and only 1700 reserved seating tickets available.

Looking forward to the clash, particularly after Manly's gutsy win last Sunday....

I jsut can't believe he's had two games in premier league. Anyway, I'm sure he'll get a chance eventually.
Would be nice if Beaver put a hit on Johns like the one Smith. Nice for Manly's chances, don't know whether Johns would like it:) .
