This guy needs to be in the team. He is great as an impact player and I have always liked him being named in the team. Its a shame he wasnt in favour to make our 1st grade squad. Its something bout him but he has a good passing and kicking game and i just like him being there and as everyone saw the game turned once he came on.

As he has done in a lot of game he has played. I know our whole team is hi profile as of next year but a little unknown hooker in Webster would only do good for us. But who knows the gaem plan. Riddell Morris and the hooking role???

Absolutely. Couldn't agree more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure if he ever has a man of the match (contract extending) performance, but I think its very rare for him to have a bad game. He ALWAYS adds some spark off the bench.

Sh!t he was good wasn't he!

He changed the game late in the first half, no question about it, he was fantastic off the bench. Very smart play from dummy half, always taking the right options and excellent service to the forwards. Not scared to tackle the big ugly blokes either.

Well done Ginger Megs

You never know, he might find himself in the 14 jersey a bit more often next year if he can keep it up.

I also like the way he shows some balls in defense. OK, he's a bit small and does sometimes gets run over - but at least he puts himself in a position to make the front on tackle. Given his size, I reackon he's a pretty good low defender with a good technique.

With Riddell coming next year I honestly would not mind seeing Webster wear the No. 14 and play 15-20 mins a game as our interchange hooker. He's not on big money but he gives 100% every minute he plays. I've been impressed with him whenever he's played that role coming off the bench. Hopkins does a good job out of dummy half as well but his kicking game has been shown to be pretty ordinary and whilst he has good size and spark he's pretty inconsistent playing at dummy half and makes quite a few errors.

We really don't have many options for the No. 14 jersey next year and we will definitely need an interhange hooker to give Riddell a 15-20 mins break. Webster could be the man for the job.

6. Morris
7. Witt / Marsh?

9. Riddell

14. Webster?

Yeah, not sure if Webster will stay around he is off contract this year, but if Marsh either doesn't sign or isn't ready by round 1 then Webster will make a good #14.

Webster has the heart of a Lion in a Cheetas body, what I mean by that is that he isn't afraid and he is a quick little bugger out of dummy half. I have always looked at him as one of those players who should be in our squad because every time he is he adds much needed spark in our attacking game. Sign him up I say!

Parraren has the best team there. I think that will be our halves, hooker and impact player for 2005. IF he stays. [-o<

He is a clubman. Shame he has been out of favour for the whole season. A better alternative then Hopkins.

He's been in some favour, being named as captain of PL most weeks? Webster wouldn't be your first choice in the squad, but he sure has a go and puts in every time he's called upon.

i agree that Webster sparked the team and played well, although he doesn't play that well consistently enough for my liking and does become a liability in defence purely because of his size (not his effort or heart) and when other packs start to dominate ours

and on Hopkins, although he did put in some poor kicks and took some poor options, i suppose he didn't st up two tries and have a great all-round display against the Sharks????

i'm sorry, but his vision and pass for Graham's try was some of the best attack we have produced all year and was as good as a lot of passes thrown by much, much higher profile 5/8's and halves during the year

what does Lee Hopkins ahve to do to get a wrap around this place????

Hopkins had a great game.

See how much better the team plays with Morris out of dummy half.

In fact- maybe somebody should research our record with and without Morris at dummy half. I've said it before and i'll say it again- he is a crap number 9. His passing game makes it hard for the forwards to get over the advantage line- he doesn't know the best times to run and make good metres- he gives away 5000 penalties- basically he is not a hookers arsehole. I'm always confident when he's playing in the halves or not at all. Just get him out of the hooking position- I think you'll find the purchase of Riddell will reap bigger rewards than you think. I know Morris has said he won't be giving up the number 9 without a fight- but Morris do whats good for the team and play somewhere else.

william,

you may be right about Morris and after all he was a halfback understudy to Andrew Johns at Newcastel and maybe (if given the opportunity) he may be better suited to 5/8 (outside Witt) next season

and just a question, simply a question.....have you been a Hopkins bagger recently??? cause i seem to think you may have been thats all - anyway, if you have been good on you for giving him due credit for his performance and if not good on you for giving him a wrap anyway

i would love to see Lee retained for next year to fill that utility role off the bench unless we can come up with some better option?????

i mean something like

14. Hopkins
15. Widders
16. Robinson
17. Cannings
18. Stringer
19. Tsoulos

assuming that the starting pack will be something like

13. Wagon
12. Morrsion
11. Hindmarsh
10. Vella
9. Riddell
8. Cayless (c)
