Wedding Ideas

I was lucky enough to become engaged to my beautiful girlfriend (Now Fiancee) last week and we have started looking at Wedding Venues for the ceremony and the reception, But bloody hell there a thousand places to choose from.

So im just after some ideas and recomendations from my fellow posters, Where were you married? where was the reception?
Noting that i dont want to send my self broke paying for the wedding looking at roughly 10-15K all up.

I was thinking areas like the Blue Mountains, Sutherland Shire, Royal National Park/ Wollongong, Hunter Valley etc.

Feedback is appreciated.

Hope you get lucky with the weather!
Of the few weddings i have been to
- One was in Christchurch, it was 3-4 degrees and sleeting, freezing day
- One was in Melbourne on February 7 this year, the day it was 46 degrees and the bushfires happened. Suit + 46 degrees is not the most fun you can have
- Another one was the day of the dust storm at Sydney Harbour (although i didnt attend this wedding)

Having tied the knot last october, my advice is to take a big bottle of lube with you whenver visiting a reception place, photographer or anyone else. Makes the violent anal raping when it comes time to talk cost a bit more manageable...

Seriously though, St George Motorboat club is the place to get married in the Shire. No idea what their prices are, but must be reasonable given the amount of weddings that I've been to there (always great).

I got married at Le Montage in Leichhardt, so not really in the areas you want. Pretty pricey too, but we got carried away with everything for ours.

The only thing that I would honestly say is worth taking the time to research and potentially drop some decent cash on is photography. The difference between a bad one and a good one is immense, so do your homework when it comes time to pick a photographer.

While it is a beautiful spot, it is NOT in "The Shire".

Save the money, take a trip to the Coral Sea resort and only invite the closest of your friends and family.

Thanks Angry I had already had a look at the website and it looked pretty good, the only downer would be not as many guests will be able to attend.
But ive sent them an email and ill wait and see what packages they offer.

Have a small wedding, simple buffet and heaps of grog...IMO the best weddings are the smaller ones.

I have been to some Italian and Greek Weddings and there have been half of Melbourne there. Really impersonal.

Thats what i had in mind a buffet style meal heaps of grog and informal but most places i have looked at online are formal and only have the packages that they provide.
Personaly id rather be informal and have a bbq meal than some fancy atlantic salmon they they charge you some ridiculous price for.

Yep..I think you might be pushing it to get a place that does a buffet.

Have it at home...dial in pizza, a few slabs and a cheezel for a ring for the missus.;-)

Comprehension not your strong point.

For people in the shire, St George motorboat club is the place to get married. I didn't say anything about it being in the shire.

Me and the fiancee are doing it in Coffs at a place called the Aanuka Beach Resort. There are a lot of places up and down the NSW coast that offer wedding packages. It's a small wedding but we've made up for that by just booking a room at the club back home for a piss up with the guys who miss out on the wedding.

There are some good spots in the Hunter too, we checked that option out ourselves. Obviously I have no idea about your budget in terms of number of guests to fit in that cost range but have a glance at these sites...

Perhaps he meant

St George Motorboat club is "the place" to get married [in the opinions of people who live] in the Shire

Got it in one, Jess.

I'll be sure to type much more slowly and clearly in future fein, with plenty of punctuation and italics so that you are not confused

You lack the comprehension skills of an adult Danish so I'm prepared to cut you some slack but when you outwardly lie to cover up a mistake, well that's another thing.
