I think without a second tier comp, bringing someone up who hasn't been able to show anything on the field is a lot more difficult and sending your number one choice in Waqa back to reserve grade to work on fixing his issues is impossible.
Really good point. I think we might have given a couple of players some time off during the year if we had a few more back ups that were match fit.

No doubt. But there was ample opportunity for waqa to be given the week off and let someone else have a crack. Doing such a thing may have put a few players on notice. Now it seems the coaches hand has been forced.

He never dropped anyone in 2018 either, no pandemic around then........

It's not the f**ken eighties. Players are all known quantities now. If you drop one of your top liners you're only able to replace them with someone worse. What's the point of that?

Arthur's dropped Mennings in 2018 and the team didn't start winning. It was a team problem caused by disharmony. You only drop players if they're not having a go, not because they're making mistakes. There's an argument for playing blokes in reserve grade when they're down on confidence, so they can smash some reserve graders and remember how good they are, but we don't have that option this year.
