He did get beat but he isn't a FGer yet, Dearden will burn much better players.

It is what you want from a player in his position. Now for him to go back and continue developing and there is Martins replacement for Origin

Yes. Dearden is my Dally M smokey. Could have a big year. I agree Martin replacement. Big bopper but has speed too.

When a reggie plays first grade they are surrounded by firsts. Tonight was NSW cup and below vs firsts. So its tough going for anyone.

I don't think the Cows win enough games for him to get it. But attack wise Cows will smoke a few sides

No top 8?

The squad looks good to me. Its looked good every year under Payten they are just inconsistent.

Their away form generally dictates how they'll go, playing overseas will screw them for 6-8 rounds then origin hits, they'll struggle..

Getting blitz by a full first grade side doesn't help them tbh

Ivan wouldve know they wouldve got blitzed..

Weve been the best club at bringing juniors through for a very long time...

If it was a terrible idea they wouldnt do it.

It gives them a taste..

Blokes like edgar know now that he needs to spend the year in cup seriously aiming uo in defence.

And a few other fringe guys would get plenty out of it.

The reality is theres probably 4-6 guys that played tonight that will go on to play regular nrl.. and it gives them a taste and the club obviously thinks it isnt a waste to blood them all.. otherwise blokes like patea, eiso, milky etc wouldve played..

Taking anything out of that other than it gave a few guys a taste is all..

I think our nsw cup squad will be very competitive this year and there will be plenty of blokes pushing nrl guys. Which is great.

The number one thing you hear from guys on debut is that the game is so much faster in first grade. Many of those guys got a slight taste of that tonight. And its not even first grade really. They were just over matched. I don't see the negative really apart from the Panthers brand being tarnished but who gives a rats in a trial.

Kinda like Zimbabwe v Australia in cricket. Give the minnows a go but its more about the experience rather than winning...oh wait.

That's a single kid playing in a side and learning.
A full side of kids having their shit pushed in is something else.I don't blame them but I believe it's not beneficial.

They are a very soft team. If they can't score 30 points they won't win games

2022 - Finals
2023 - Miss
2024 - Finals
2025 - Miss

They are soft I'll say that. When they are bad there isn't a worse team to watch in the competition.

They've got a good half in Dearden. Mahoney and Drinkwater can be hit and miss but at their best quite dangerous. Its not a bottom 4 spine. And I like a number of their forwards and backs.

They honestly remind me of Matt Elliott's tenure here. The squad looks good they just don't perform consistently.

They'll probably hit the piss at the first place they find in Mackay and that will be that. No one in the side should be talking about this match come round 1 in NSW Cup.

Geyer
Schneider
Sommerton
Laurie
Toelau
Luke
Kepaoa
Fale
Dias
Lipowicz
Hassett
Riki

Have I left anyone out?

I don't scan over cup sides regularly. Can't even compare to other teams in the NRL. But that number of names suggests that the NSW cup side will struggle with cohesion early in the season.

What will hurt them is Vegas, They don't travel well. So I see them struggling early. Then Origin mean they lose a few guys and any team except for Tigers and Knights are capable of making the 8

I dont know. All those guys got a genuine taste of what the NRL is like that first half, certainly dont want them copping that all the time, but in this trial one time i think it can be a lesson for them. That was their top 13 playing really well. our guys got pumped but they got a real taste of how fast and intense and NRL team plays, its hard to get that experience outside of an actual NRL game.

Anyway I think Zac Clarke will definitely be in the mix for the bench, he has Ivan written all over him. He is more athletic than he looks and he can play a few positions, and appears to be a good goal kicker also. Keahn Skipps looks more ready than i though he was, looks to be a very good young half. Unfortunately the middles didnt get to show much, Billy Smith looks ready to be the genuine back to Yeo IMO. If you is out we should be slotting Billy straight in, let him play cup if yeo is fit tho I dont think hes a bench guy at this stage.

This new 6 man bench, I dont think its going to change rotations all that much unless i misuinderstand it. You can only use four of the 6, so its still going to be a 3 man bench rotation for most of the game 3 guys likely waiting to see how gets minutes at the end, unless there is an injury.
