Kings smash Pigs

Dominic Brock, Sportal

The high-flying Sydney Kings have continued their dominance over cross-city rivals the West Sydney Razorbacks, cruising to a 106-74 victory at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on Saturday night.

The win made it six straight for the Kings, who have also won six of their past seven clashes with West Sydney.

The hosts dominated from the start, extending their lead at each break in a sensational team performance.

Sydney had six players in double figures, with Rolan Roberts leading the way with 19 points and David Barlow contributing 16 to go with 10 rebounds.

Adam Darragh led the scoring for the Razorbacks with 16 points, and Scott McGregor scored 11 and pulled down 14 boards in his 300th NBL game.

It was the fourth consecutive loss for the struggling West Sydney, while their rivals move to the top of the table after the 32-point thrashing.

The Kings took control of the game from the first term, going on a 10-2 run on the way to a 28-18 quarter-time lead.

Sydney put on 10 straight points to open up a 20-point at the start of the second quarter.

Luke Kendall, CJ Bruton and Roberts all reached double figures for the half as the hosts took a 59-42 advantage at the main break.

The Razorbacks couldn't find their way back into the game, struggling at the offensive end and being held to just 13 points in the third period. The home side meanwhile shared the points to go ahead 81-55 with a quarter to play.

With the result beyond doubt, Sydney coach Brian Goorjian gave his bench players some game time in the fourth quarter but the gap continued to widen, as the Kings wrapped up their biggest win of the season.

Sydney (9-2) will try to make it seven on the trot on Wednesday when they host the Perth Wildcats, while the Razorbacks (3-8) are hoping to bounce back at home against the New Zealand Breakers on Friday.

 Just thought this forum could do with a sh*t stirring thread.

It was expected really, Look at our starting line up it is a team full of inexperianced players. Now the real test will be in about a months times when we have Harvey,Horvath back on board. Wth there experiance along with Blackburn,Reed and Darragh we should start to be competitive again.

West Sydney are a bunch of bogan scrubbers who need their mummies to do up their bootlaces before each game. Or cannot help resist belting Kings players behind the play when we are too good and are tanning their squeaky little bacon hides.

"One team in Sydney..... there's only..."

Dann is such a dog I swear.
I swear it looked like a Kings homegame tonight. I saw hardly any Razorbacks colours tonight. Don't they travel 500 metres?

I wonder if they would fill the Whitlam Centre they way they have played this season.

Forget the Pigs. The rivalry with them is rather sad these days. Derbies Wollongong is where the real passion lies.

Seriously, if you have never experienced a Hawks-Kings NBL derby in Wollongong, it is nothing like you will experience elsewhere in the league. Just so intense, the fans so passionate and vociferous in support of their team.

Honestly do you get to the games or are you one of those nbl.com.au followers who sit at home and judge by stats.

The pigs were right in there going at it with the best of them, shore we lost by 11 but if you were there, you would no it was no easy win for the Kings. we had them scared at times allmost got up at one stage as well.

As for the pigs I am glad our woefull season is allmost over and we can try an dlook foward to the next.
