I don't see it. Tuiaki was unreal but he was a club level player. Makasini could be a star. I hate to say it because Makasini probably won't be as good but he is more Lomu/Folau or maybe at a lower level Inglis/Latrell.

It’s a bit early to conclude Makasini’s ceiling.. He could easily be as good as Inglis and Mitchell.. they were better than Folau ..Lomu was the best of them. Could Mak be that good? Maybe..He looks no worse than a “scrawny” Lomu at 18, before he got real big and a year before he became an All Black. …Tuiaki was right up there. & btw he played for nz

He has a bit of all the attributes of those mentioned but still slightly unique mainly because of his height. For example he is a bit like Tuiaki because of the way he leans into the D and puts the bumpers up and at the same time he gets under the D's arms and pushes upwards, like shrugging off the D. Tuiaki was awesome at doing this. Makasini is taller though but still is similar.
In the open he runs more like a Folau or Inglis.
Whatever we all come up with in describing him, it just awesome that we have secured his services. We've got a goodin which we've known for a while now.

I haven't been sure until these 2 trials. It's a big step up from juniors to playing first grade.

That's what I've been saying tiger. I still maintain that he needs NRL development. Sure he's gifted, big, strong and has the right attitude but Benji and Hodgo are experienced backs coaches and will no doubt assist him.
Even training and hanging around the squad of the top 30 is a good thing because if the player is a sponge, they'll soak it all up.
I don't think going to reserve grade will prevent him from getting the hard knocks either. I also like him at centre.
Whatever happens, if To'a is injured, you can bet your life that the best centre combo in the NRL will be unearthed...May and Makasini. Just my opinion, and probably not supported by everyone, but it's worthy of a debate maybe.

I don't know. I think Makasini has the ability to be a star at centre or wing. I think he is a step up from all our outside backs.

I'd keep the combination we had on the left side going and I'd be having that side as a target all season.

I respect your pov tiger, i disagree with somethings but as I said to Tm, there is some merit in most things that's been said.

However your point about the left side attack is a very good one and I actually said this too before the debate.

The main thing tiger, is we support the same team and we all want the tiges to win. The way in which we win doesn't hold much weight unless it leads to future losses.
Then the real debates start ha ha

I reckon he would kill it at centre as well. I've seen plenty of highlights of him playing in the centres. If anything I think he is more of a centre than a winger.

I think Luai and May will carve up.
Regardless of who our wingers are, if the AD transformation works, freeing up Luai then let the fireworks begin.
We've also got genuine running left and right edges that will also help.

Cancel the salary cap, let players earn whatever they can get and let them take performance enhancing drugs.
Week to week contracts determined by the highest bidder and treat the game just like the magic millions. Bookies at the venue, players paraded in an enclosure before you put your bet on so you can see them frothing at the mouth, bleeding noses or excessive sweating.
Just like the good old Roman days.
