Wests Tigers have taken up the option to sign 4 players from the current Toyota Cup Squad. Blake Lazarus, Blake Ayshford, Peni Tengive and Wayde Dunley will form part of the Wests Tigers Top 25 squad in season 2009.

Very good to hear.

I know at least one of the players was considering signing with Balmain Ryde as the negotiations were not going well. Good to see that has not happened

They gotta get at least Matty Davidson in there somewhere, we need more big boys and i thought this year proved that yet again... although i dont see some of your lineup actually coming true, you certainly wont see Benji at fullback before Lazerus Moltzen or McDonnell

if that was the starting 17 for next year i would be stoked.

as for the forwards, isnt it obvious? dunley, mcdonnell and ayshford are going to be playing backrow.

Why is everyone putting Marshall at fullback?

I can't see this every happening. Imagine the horror of Benji under the high ball.

There is no way Benji will play fullback.

It aint no co-incidence that Moltzen moved from 7/6 to the #1 in NYC after Hodgo announced he is off....

Although great to sign the cream of the crop, they are all backs and what area are we behind every club in the NRL---forwards. Now with only one spot left in the top contract list it dosnt allow for much shopping

I just get the feeling Sheens three year plan is now a five year plan or more. Theirs also the problem of the no7 next year while we are waiting for one of the young kids to come through, because it will not be Head

Highly unlikely Trimarchi will be with WT in 2009.

I just sort of assumed seeing he is contracted until the end of 09'

Whether Marshall or Mcdonnell is full back, there is only 3 second rowers as reserves and the standard 3 on the bench. The only assumed player in that list is head, which increases the chances of him not staying imo. Sheens could be looking at using that spot for a prop.

He moved there after Lazarus was injured. Lazarus was/is still the main plan as far as i am aware

Not straight away he didnt, for the next 3-4 weeks he played a mix of 6 & 7 with Dunley... its only been the past 5-6 weeks he got moved to fullback.

But i agree with you i think Lazarus should be the #1 option for next year... although Coedi Towney filled that role amazingly yesterday... f**k McDonells supposed speed, Towney actually has it over a full 100m man is he quick !!

In my opinion...you would be better served signing 1-2 big boppers...maybe someone like a Shane Tronc who I reckon would find form again at a new club and maybe Frank Puletua. He is honest as they come Frank. Will be solid and run hard all day and hit ok too. He is under-rated.

IMO the best team the Tigers could field is:

1. Blake Lazarus, 2. Peni Tagive, 3. Dean Collis, 4. Chris Lawrence, 5. Taniela Tuaiki, 6. Benji Marshall, 7. Tim Molzton, 8. Todd Payton, 9. Robbie Farah, 10. Keith Galloway, 11. Gareth Ellis, 12. Chris Heighnington, 13. Liam Fulton
RES: 14. Dene Halatau, 15. Bryce Gibbs, 16. Daine Laurie, 17. Bronson Harrison

with:
18. Shane Tronc, 19. Wade Dunley, 20. Corey Payne, 21. John Morris, 22. Shannon McDonnell, 23. Danny Galea, 24. Blake Ashmond, 25. Frank Puletua

^^ Thats pretty close to what i think should be the lineup too... but going on what the club seems to do week in week out you can forget McDonnell not being in the top 25 and you can forget them buying front rowers hahaha

I assume you mean 24. Blake Ashyford ??

I friend of mine works with Morris's fiance and apparently some SL clubs are showing some strong interest in him and he is taking a good look.... this is just what i been told though i have NO idea if its true.

Shane Tronc is a spastic - built like a mack truck but hits like a pillow and falls like a sack of sh1t as soon as he hits the line. No thanks,
