simmons and kent were gonna be the next generation

our much lauded wins over a depleted newcastle and celler dwelling warriors had many convinced sullivan was the next andrew johns

top 4 positions were being predicted

enough though of my pretentiousness

if we dont get peachey and noddy on the field soon we have to face the fact that next year is start again time

the club has again recruited poorly

no viable front row back up with lots of talk about disposing beattie

the club seems to be pinning its hopes on the likes of aitken :( to be the future

it would have been nice to make the finals this year but without first grade standard ball players in the side our defensive weaknesses are going to too hard to make up against the sides we have to play

top 4 is far out of reach millers but the top 8 is still in sights, especially since everyone around us on the table lost this weekend.
I agree though no peach or noddy and we can hope for 10th at best, especially with this run home.

We went ok against a side of the Bulldogs quality, should have one it. To even be in that position IMO means we are going ok. So add Beat ordinary sides and nearly beat #1.

This forum gets too damn depressing when we lose. Yes, we lost but there are far too many people mixing strawberry Kool-Aid in here right now. We're still in the 8 and with any luck Peach will return next week. Yay Team!

We lost by 11 points to the leaders of the comp without Kimmorley and Peachey.
It was 26 all with 13minutes to go.

So why the long faces???

Kents miss tackles and poor kicking game was very disappointing. But I think he was just overwhelmed with the conditions and his huge responsibility.

If I hear another person bag Simmons I'll scream!!!
Give the kid a break!

He has been a shining light for us this year. The experience he has gained this season in First Grade is his aprenticeship. He has the goods, be patient and you will be rewarded in the following years 10 fold.

Hilder and Simmons are currently our two best juniors going around and I think match breakers in the years ahead.

Hilder is definately the standout.

But Simmons was fantastic under the high ball on Sunday in atrocious conditions and has done well other times in defusing bombs under pressure.

Some of Simmons try scoring runs have been just sensational. The ones against the Roosters,Broncos and Storm all standout.

Defence has been average but only because of a lack of experience in reading the play and lack of size. But he will build up over coming seasons and the experience of First GRade football at his age will fast track his development.

If Simmons is the next generation we are farged. The pansy runs the ball back like a girl.

I dont know which game u where at "Imasharkie" cos I thought Dave Simmonds had a great game in windy conditions. Did Patten do any better? I dont think so.

if simmons is the future then i think it's fair to say he still has some way to go before he confirms that with consistent, all-round performances. defence is an obvious weak point and as every coach will tell you, defence is all about attitude.

i see the same attitude in simmons defence as i see in his ball returns and i say he needs to get more aggression into his psyche to really cut the grade.

that's not to say he hasn't shown plenty of potential, particularly in attack and handling the high-ball, and the experience can only be beneficial. but league is probably the roughest, toughest game on the planet and the kid needs to aim up or he'll not be able to fulfil what potential he has.

kent is older and a more developed all-round player and probably more experienced human being, but again needs more time in first grade to develop the self-confidence and understanding to come into his own with the team. given his previous performances and also the amount of time he's had to spend in divvy i think he's got the right stuff to make first grade a permanent reality.

considering everything, we ddin't go too bad on the weekend but a disciplined and well organised team should have won that game when it was there to be won halfway through the second half.

the team is punching above their weight which is great to see. add noddy and peach to that lot and we're looking like a quality outfit, but not serious contenders just yet.

geez

i saw a different game

we were well beaten and were lucky to be close

but we dont play in a 60 minute comp anyway

and dragon slayer - i wonder how much of your simmons worship springs from your well established attitude to peachey

Millers, I can separate the two issues...........

It's funny how people only read what they want to hear.
Without going over too much OLD ground let me state my position once again.

I think Peachey has been one of the top three players for the Sharks in the past decade. (How many times do I have to say this!!!!!!!!!!)
But father time catches up with outside backs sooner rather than later. He has the worst metres gained by any fullback in the league. My opinion only and it seems the board, coach and CEO have the same feelings on the matter. They'd rather see him retire with grace rather than disgrace.

Now if Peachey wants to carry on like a petulant child on the matter and refuse to play for the Sharks until a deal is sorted out then I think he will of undone alot of the good work he has done as a club man. Yes that's right a clubman, not a Australian rep player not a SOO star, a clubman!

Now Millers if you can't recognise Simmons talent and be impressed with where the youngster is at in such a short time I'm starting to doubt your ability to pick a rising star. This thread will come back to bite you big time.

perhaps DS

as with many youngsters in footy - and i have seen many over the years i thought would turn to be greats who ended up not being able to make it - potential does not pay the bills

i think simmons is ok - as far as youngsters go i think bird is the one with the obvious potential

a lot of this is opinion and mine has on occasion been wrong in the past and will again be in the future

however i call it as i see it

i think you would especially like to see simmons go well given your clear position on peachey
