Its only fitting that Brad Schneider is the first player to leave us in half a decade without us even playing in a grand final.

Ivan got cocky thinking he could keep wasting bench spots and never pay for it.

Its been awesome. We will be back next year. We beat ourselves this year, not with how we played in the finals but how we played the first 12 weeks. Take out that bad start, or even just take out the two golden point losses and we are in the top four with a chance to rest before the finals then play a game for another rest. If we had done that i think we would be favourites to win our 5th straight right now.

Anyway looking forward i hope to see patea crack the top 17 next year. We need Blaize to keep developing, we need a second point of attack on the edges outside Nathan.

I’m dirty of how the streak ended and the club that ended it but never at any stage did I really think we’d win the 2025 comp. A bridge too far after the woeful start and finishing 7th. Making the prelim exceeded my expectations.

Still, the past 6 seasons have been a wonderful ride, considering the expectations were very modest for the Panthers even at the start of 2020.

2020 was a club record winning streak only to shit the bed v Storm in the Grand Final. I went to the game and remember the feeling of deflation and wondering if our chance had passed. It was just extraordinary the quality of the performances in 2021 and then winning the comp with 3 straight low scoring grinds.
2022 was largely a breeze and felt great putting Parra in their place with an easy GF win, in which the 28-12 scoreline honestly flattered Parra.
2023 we started the season poorly in attack with no Kiks or Koroisau but adjusted our game plan more to suit the likes of Kenny starting and pulled off the greatest comeback in GF history and against my most disliked club!
2024 Nathan missed large parts of the season but Romey silenced his doubters with an excellent season. They reunited come finals time and we won that comp surprisingly comfortable.

Unfortunately the streak just couldn’t go on with all the players we lost and while blooding new and young players in the team. A prelim final finish was very respectable, just disappointing how it ended with the Pony scum chasing us down.
Hopefully a good start next season can set us up for another title tilt.

The dark side of this forum coming out in the face of defeat, as it always has. Schneider was in the 17 last year but didn't come on. He was a contributor to the effort both years he was here.

Two of my favourite individual memories come from the game we played against the Cows in the final game of 2022 when we played our ressies.

First is the big prop (can’t remember his name) running down Drinkwater. We were being flogged and could have been forgiven for giving up on the play.

The second was in the press conference afterwards. It was Kenny’s first game as captain and the journos wrapped up the press conference after a few short questions to Ivan. Ivan stared them all down and said something along the lines of ‘do you not have any questions for him’ (pointing to Kenny).

Two great examples of the culture being built. So proud to be a Panther that night.

I spotted Kenny in the crowd at a Tigers game in Leichhardt a day or two after. Had a brief chat, congratulated him on his Captaincy. I think he was shocked that someone recognised him plain clothed in a crowd :D

How about the best meme moment? There have been some outstanding ones.

Fish slapping Munsters ass
Ivan blowing kisses
Parra are our sons
Laurie screaming out a car window on Mulgoa Rd
Luais best man speech
The Fowler growler
Api publicly calling the Tigers losers

I've probably missed many.

Burton and Brian calmly shaking hands after the team was accused of celebrating too much.

While some may call him a stubborn prick, others may call him a history making coach that has done something that no other NRL coach has done nor will ever do.

Thats not a rebuttal. Ivan would definitely be the type to say everyone has things they can improve.
