What does Nathan Hindmarsh have to do?

I see the other thread regarding Preston Campbell, and I agree. I am a Penrith fan, but then I see that Barrett (when/if fit) and Lockyer offer a lot too.

But, bloody hell, what does Nathan Hindmarsh have to do??? Flectch, Fitzgibbon, Waterhouse and Kennedy are all super players. But whenever I see Hindmarsh play, he is the best Eels player on the field, in fact without him over the last few years, the Eels would have been challenging only Souths!!

He's been snubbed by rep selectors for a few years now (god, even Mick Vella seems to get picked more often) - What's up with it - he combines a Fitzgibbon like work rate, with Kennedy like ball running, and Fletcher/Waterhouse like ball running!!! He's the most complete 2nd rower out there - I JUST DON'T GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently he had a couple of bad games for NSW in like, 2001 or something?? That's what I've heard over the years when his rep credentials are brought up. Terrific player. Should be just about the first back-rower picked for NSW.

he needs to tie up the drawstring on his shorts :D

seriously, it is a shame that he has been getting snubbed. admittedly he did go very poor in origin, but his club form has been outstanding when he's played over the past few years.

i am happy that mason isnt there though....

I wondered if it was the shorts or haircut.

Seriously though, quite a few players have struggled in their early origin games - greats such as Clyde and Daley among others - Hindmarsh deserves another go. Seriously, does anyone believe Mick Crocker is a better back rower?? (note to Roosters fans, I'm not saying Crocker is awful, just saying Hindmarsh is better)

Perhaps he should start by buying pants that cover his entire ass!

I mean, in todays climate with all the sex allegations, the league can't be too careful and flashing his goods all over the field is just asking for trouble. Its clear the ARL are just playing it safe.

Buy some new shorts Nathan!

cant compare to Crocker as he is picked as a utility player as he can cover numerous positions

Fitzgibbon and Kennedy are better

Kennedy better than Hindmarsh? Watch Eels/Knights last weekend, that says more than I ever could about which player is better:

Hindmarsh 42 tackles, 13 hitups, no mistakes
Kennedy 4 dropped balls (all in own half), 3 penalties conceded

I don't think its a coincidence that the Eels won the game on the back of those stats.

wouldnt have had anything to do with their chief playmaker being stretchered off ?

i think hindmarsh is over rated.

Yeah, Crocker is a real utility star - a good backrower who's an awful hooker or 5/8. I reckon Hindmarsh, Menzies, Ricko etc etc could all play hooker and 5/8 as well as Crocker does!

As for Ozbash saying Hindmarsh is over-rated - ppfffffftttt - watch him play dope. Wish he was a Kiwi

Actually if you've watched the game the Newcastle side weren't playing that great at 14-6 down when Johns was stretchered off. The Knights picked up their game when he did go off and probably went down due to the lack of options left on their bench. Would they have won if Johns was on the field? Can't say 100% but I feel there players realised that instead of waiting for Joey they had to do it themselves for a change.

I also reckon that Lauititi is over rated and only got the Dally M award because Hindmarsh was suspended but thats my opinion.

hindy was a great player 2 years ago, since his injuries he is not much better than mediocre. i hope he comes right as i have always liked both him and his bro.

the knights came right last year when joey hurt his neck, took a while but it happened.

i think ali is over rated now.
he wasnt 2 years ago.

If your gunna be biased might as well be blatant.
Nothin like highlighting one players positive points
and anothers negatives to prove you point.

Hindmarsh had his chance and failed. He will need to play out of this world to get a recall. He is a great player at club level but couldn't step up.

Hindmarsh is a very fine player - if it came down to the choice of the two, I'd take Kennedy (just). But Hindmarsh was much the superior player in the Eels - Knights clash.

And, as pointed out above, the Knights were losing before Johns went off, and Hindmarsh was already having a terrific game

Hindmarsh is a terrific NRL standard player. When it comes to taking the step "up" to the next level ie. Origin and Test level, he doesn't seem to handle it as well. I think he has had his chance and blown it.

 lucky they didn't take that attitude with Laurie Daley, Brad Clyde, Cliff Lyons, Mark Geyer, Andrew Ettingshausen, etc etc etc etc

Laugh all you want but I think the selectors can tell when someone has what it takes to step up.

They keep picking Barrett don't they? I have yet to see him step up and play a leaders role in any form of the game.

What happened in all those players cases?
I dont have a photographic memory.
All fine club and rep players, do they all have something
in common with Hindmarsh>?

He had 2 games of the bench for NSW and was probably on the field for about 20 minutes. Not much of a chance to shine
