What happened at half time?

What a turn around when the team came out in the second half! They looked a different bunch than the mob that had mostly gone through the motions in the first 40 mins.

Anyone who was watching on TV or saw the post match media interviews know what went down in the sheds?

Did DA go on the warpath? Did Hindy step up and say some words? Did they get a visit from someone like Ray Price? What shook them all up to finally play to their potential?

and spoke

Obviously it worked.....

on the telecrap website it said that Ando left the sheds early at half time so the players could talk to themsleves.
Don't know how true that is but the post game interviews should be on parraeels.com.au tomorrow sometime.

Regardless of how bad Souths were in the second half, the pleasing thing is the Eels were really good.

Enthusiasm was back; kick chase was great; some of the defensive sets were relentless, buckling and brutal. That was the first 20 of the second half.

While some of this dropped off in the second 20 minutes; what I thought was great, was a ressurection of off-loads and second phase play, without pushing it to many dropped balls, and knock-ons.

Really happy with how they played their second half today - best 40 minutes of football we have seen from them this year, and I do not think Souths being bad were necessarily responsible for it. Cronulla were not that great, and we did not win then.

I've gotta give Matt Keating a rap - I thought it was the best he's played in a long time - plenty of energy and enthusiasm when he came on in the 2nd half .... I've bagged him and called him out a few times, but he really had a good one today

they turned it around 5-6 minutes before halftime. We looked pretty good all of a sudden in that short period.

Perhaps Anderson said "hey guys, I know I've said a lot of things over the last few weeks, but let's just try NOT dropping the ball every 2nd set of 6 this half?"

And what a difference it made.

IMO souths clocked off 20 before half time. They were worse than cronulla we just showed more will to win on this occasion. My worry is still that we didn't look like scoring on too many occasions, but the upside is that attitude and desire were way up which suggests further improvement is inevitable.
