Just a question that was brought up today What happens if the game after golden point is still a draw is it like the old days with a midweek replay or do they do like the super league (yuk) and keep playing until there is a result

If scores are equal at the conclusion of normal time in any Finals Series match, then in such matches, including the NRL Grand Final, a period of extra time shall follow whereby the first scorer of any point or points (e.g. field goal, penalty goal or try) will immediately be declared the winner. If a try is scored in extra time the conversion kick will not permitted. The commencement of the period of extra time shall be determined by the toss of a coin as described under the Laws of the Game. If no point or points have been scored after a further period on ten (10) minutes, the referee shall cease play and teams shall immediately change ends. The team that did not kick-off to commence the initial period of extra time, will kick-off to recommence the second period. Play shall then continue on an unlimited time basis until the first point or points have been scored to determine the winner of the match.

In short, golden point rule in effect. They'll swap sides after 10 minutes of play, if still a draw they'll play until someone scores or dies.....

Thats the fairest way. I wouldn't want it any other way and there are some random ideas that can pop up when this issue is mentioned.

I was reffing an all schools carnival last month. In the semi's if there was a draw at full time there would be 2 minutes each way. If it was still a draw then the team that scored first would be awarded the game. This game was nil-all and the team that was given the first penalty were awarded the match. The team that lost gave away the first penalty of the match when their kickoff failed to pass the required 10 metres.... talk about harsh! (in the case where there were no penalties in the match, the winner would have been decided by a coin-toss)

How about they play 10 minutes. If someone is leading after that 10 minutes, they win. If not, they play another 10 minutes. If someone is leading after that 10 minutes, they win. If not, then they play golden point on an unlimited time basis..

That would be pretty cool.

I think it should go to an immediate golden goal penalty shoot-out. Start from in front and work your way out the sideline.

Each player only gets one shot at goal, then it's the next guy's turn. Continue until one team converts or the other one misses, or all seventeen players from both teams have had a kick.

If its still tied after that, flip a coin. Winner continues, loser bows out.

I think they should just send both captains into the centre of the field to duke it out for the right to continue. Or if it's Barrett...hand bags at 10 paces to make it fair on him.
