They seem to stay with us long after the bands have since died out.....

What is the oldest t-shirt in your concert tshirt collection? What year (approximately) did you get it?

I have a nearly dead Metallica shirt from the 89' "And Justice for All" tour, though I was in recruit training for the Army and couldn't go. My mate got it for me.

The oldest shirt I have from a concert I actually went to, is an Anthrax one from the 90' "Persistence of Time" tour.

So do they still fit nice or do you now look like a waitress at H(oYo)ters when you put 'em on? ;-) xoxox

You're too funny! So no new clothes since 1989?

Had to look that up on the internet - looks like you are wearing an interesting ensemble these days:

Male Clothing 1989 T. Michael sweatshirts were a big thing. Worn with black pants, white socks slightly rolled up over pants cuff and Black reebok exofit hi-top's. It was referred to as the Guido/Bodybuilder look.

Well, now that I've sidetracked my own thread....

I never owned a "real" concert t-shirt from one that I went to. I've lived a deprived life!

I have an REM shirt from the Monster tour in 1993, and a U2 shirt from the Zoo TV tour in 1994. The oldest one I still wear is probably a Regurgitator/TISM/The Fauves shirt from the Caveat Emptor tour in 1996.

Hmmm, have my share of band t-shirts but only two three i bought were from a concert, n one i dont wear anymore. The jebediah one from Homebake 2000 is that one, then i got a living end on n a tenacious d one, also from last year.

Strapping Young Lad's shirt from their first tour here in 1997. I still wear it to this day, it's held its colour and shape nicely.

On the back is the lovely phrase "Hey asshole, f**k you and your s**tty music". Classy stuff indeed, heh.

This brought back memories, my first concert was Bon Jovi's "Slippery When Wet" tour, I was in 6th grade at the time.

Didnt get a T-Shirt but got a really cool head band that I had on upside down for a while, I only realised it was upside down when somebody said "Hey kid, its upside down".

^Pando, your talking my language, missed Metallica's fist tour down here but have been to every other and still have t-shirts for all. Oldest tour shirt still functioning would be from the "Whereever I May Roam Tour" the Birth, School, Metallica, Death one. :)

I have a Nirvana shirt from the gig I saw them play about a week after the very first big day out in Jan 92.
It was at Selina's .
I was primed to see them at the big day out but sadly I thought I would drop a tab of acid for first and last time......
needless to say I didn't see Nirvana because I was too out of it to handle the darkness of the hordern pavilion.

The next week they were due to play @ the phonecian club but Kurt was sick and cancelled.
Then they put on a another last show at Selina's.
What a night "Smell's like teen spirit "was number 1 right around the world and I was at the front of the stage....mind blowing.
Just yesterday I bought nevermind on cd from a flea market down the coast and blasted it all the way home to Sydney.( someone flogged my original one)

Still sounds as good as ever.

Years later I bumped into Dave Grohl in the Annandale and I mentioned that gig to him. He politely said yeah it was great .
I'm dubious he even cared or remembered.
Rock stars pfft , maybe to him I was just another pissed punter.

but it's my Mums

Funny you say that, I have put all my cool old t-shirts in storage for when I have a kid and he/she gets to about 17 or 18 .
I got good mileage out of them so it's no great loss.
