What price a Sharks v Eels Grand Final?

At the moment these are the two form sides of the comp with the Eels outclassing the Dragons on Friday night and the Sharks beating the Knights today in what can only be described as the best club game this year with Peachey and Campbell having outstanding games for the Sharks while Andrew Johns and Robbie O'Davis face time on the sidelines as both were put on report for sperate incidents and both attacked the heads of opposing players. If Johns is suspended the Knights game against the underrated Tigers becomes a crunch match.

The Sharks have won six straight and will look to continue that form against the in form Warriors in Auckland next weekend while the Eels face off against their nemesis in the Canterbury Bulldogs in a Friday night blockbuster.

The only other thing I wish to comment on is the outstanding crowds for this weekend with the NRL sure to surpass the 100k mark for this weekends games and will also go close for next weekends round as well.

These 2 teams certainly are hitting form at the right time of the year. On that basis, we may be looking at an all Sydney Grand Final.

Wouldn't count on in Legend.

It's quite obvious at the moment that the teams to shine in the weeks to come will be the Bulldogs and Parramatta.
They will finish top 2 and met in the Grand Finale.

Simple as that.

Did anyone see todays game? The Sharks v Knights game was one that made you realise why RL is the greatest game of all. I switched a couple of time to check the score in the Carlton v Essendon match and it was boring. That game between the Sharks and Knights was something very special with some of the best football I have ever seen and with 20k in attendance it proves the game is far from dead and I for one could not be happier.

Last Night, NorthPower Stadium Gosford

Crowd: 8,863

Atmosphere: 104,853

Last night's game was truly amazing.
This is the first time I have said it about another game not involving Canterbury.

Prior to the game, North Sydney played Manly in the lower grades - surely the last time these teams will meet - and you could feel the tenseness in the air. Petitions were cast outside the ground to entering patrons for a Central Coast side in 2002, stickers were being issued to fan with the slogan "Bears forever, Eagles never," banners were erected around the ground with such phrases and variations on that phrase (of which one I held up), and fans turned up in SeaEagles and Bears jerseys rather than Beagles kits.

The main game kicked off and you could feel the unity. Norths and Manly fans came together and forgot rivalry as their team stormed (excuse the pun) from 12 down to take the game by eight. Hopoate was brilliant and it's a game I'll never forget.

Think I'm lying? Ask anyone there.

Add to the fact I'm a Bulldog fan who took his radio to the game to keep tabs on our endeavouring cause against Wests and you have won weird and wonderful game

Dog.

Ozbash: Thanks for putting it in red and white. Until now, I thought your browser couldn't cope with those colours.
So we're not going to consider the Warriors either? Sorry mate... but Saints are still goers!!!

legend,
I guess that just goes to show, different strokes for different folks. Personally I thought the game was pretty ordinary, more like a game of park free for all or touch football to me. I'd rather see a game with at least a bit of steely defence in it, or at the worst at least a pretense of it.

I can see your point Rasputin. I love to see a good mix but I thought the level of attack was outstanding and there was no shortage of individual brillaince from players like Campbell and Peachey. The try Pechey scored off the O'Davis pass was pure magic as he was playing the lair with Johns the week before against Canberra. Revenge was sweet and will be sweeter next week when both are on the sidelines against the Tigers. For some reason they are a side with great talent but for whatever reason I just can't bring myself to like them. Sorry Mac and Roopy.

That should be a great game between two of the form sides and I am expecting a big crowd from the Auckalnders so they can get behind their team and help them build some momentum. I will be watching this one for sure. It should be a corker. The Warriors are not far off some prime time coverage in oz I feel. Make the eight and they are assured of a FTA game in Oz.

They ahve both been in good form for the past 2-3 months, there is another 7 weeks to go untill the big one. 15 - 20 weeks is a long long time to keep your form that good, it will be an interesting semi final series. My tip is that it will be parra v a dark horse (from the bottom 4).

Although I'm a sharks supporter I'm still nervous. I remember '95, '96 , ( I don't count '97), '99, even 2000 ( we struggled to make the finals , were blitzing brisbane but got run down ). This end of the year they are looking good but as they say I aint counting my chickens 'til they hatch.
On the high scores, I prefer some tough defence but I don't think weak defence is always the cause of scoreline blowouts. Sometimes brilliant attack , great kicks , great support, the odd forward pass that is not called back, etc cannot not be defended against. If one team gets 12 points ahead the other team only has one option, catch up. The team ahead can either defend like buggery, keep piling on the points themselves or a bit of both. It depends on where their strengths lie. That's what I think anyway,
cheers, Global13.

It probably should have been a Parra-Cronulla Grand Final in 1999, both teams were knocked out by Melbourne and St George Illawarra respectively at the last hurdles.

Parramatta will make up one part of the grand final equation this year. I'm not quite convinced that the Sharks will make it but I have been wrong before (like in 1999 when I openly tipped those two teams!)

Cheers all

From the Subject heading: the same odds of me taking my Parramatta Power Jersey to the Grand Final. I really don't want to be an Eel for the day.

Nostradamus part II. I beleive the Sharks will do a number on the Knights next week while Parra will face a tough encounter against the Broncos. You guys should listen to me more often.lol.

The Saint, you better get your Parra Power jersey out of mothballs mate. I know we are still two matches away from seeing who is in the decider but my prediction is quite accurate don't you think?
