Which song got you seriously hooked just from hearing it once?

Got to be Smells Like Teen Spirit for me.

Of the truly great songs, not one of them struck me instantly.

The best songs are not catchy but grow on you after time.

Devin Townsend is a great example of this, same with Jane's Addiction.

'You Can Call Me Al' got me hooked on Paul Simon's music. That initial craze over one song led me to discover his much better work.

Dust My Broom by Elmore James (an old Blues Dude), man oh man when i heard that intro lick it had me hooked this song actually forms the basis of my Tattoo, i have the notes from Dust My Broom and stave lines which wrap around a big treble cleff with banners top and bottom that read "Blues,Jazz,Country and Rock n Roll" tattooed on my arm

but when i was a young bloke and just starting to get into music i heard stuff by Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard and Eddie Cochran and as an 8 year old that stuff just floored me

Always liked Flame Trees - Cold Chisel, since I first heard it. Dunno why, just stuck.

Also Richard Cheese's version of 'Sunday Bloody Sunday'...

I remember listening to the "Dumb and Dumber" soundtrack back in the mid-90s. One song and probably the first that i loved straight away was by Dead Eye Dick. Song was called New Age Girl...

"She's a vegetarian... She don't eat meat but she sure likes the bone..."

I had the same experience, they played it for the credits of the V8's a few years ago... when they show the highlights of the race. For some reason had me hooked, and I am not that big a U2 fan
