What this team is missing

I said two weeks ago that the biggest thing this team was missing was a leader and an organiser. I can't remember who said it but someone disagreed saying defense was what this team was missing and that 26 points was enough to win a game. They had a point.

Well.. They fixed the defense up tonight and good on them. But at 12-12 with 15 or so to go.. It was obvious that the biggest problems were general play kicking, and organisation from the halves. Silly mistakes also cost the team but when there was a completed set the kick found Hunt on the full every time. Even though it was 12-12 it was hard to believe that we were any shot of winning, without any scoring opportunities inside the Broncs 40 metre line.

It's a moot point because everyone knows how good Noddy is, and everyone knows that he won't be back for a few weeks, so there isn't much point talking about it. But in the meantime I'm not sure what can be done. Sully is fantastic but he is only good enough to be a second option for play kicking - someone to talk the focus off the halfback, once every few sets. He is great at what he does, but he isn't a first option halfback, and he isn't good enough to be first option for clearing kicks.

So I don't know how you solve the problem, but until Noddy comes back it's going to haunt us in close games against decent teams. It hurt us against the Bulldogs, and it's hurt us tonight.

In short... COME BACK NODDY.

I think we're missing a bit more than that the way we keep turning the ball over. How about a little patience on the pitch boys?

missing a winger who can tackle and a halfback who can take control of the game.

We are not a one man team but when you take out a bloke who is in the top 2 or 3 7s in the game who does the kicking and leading the team around it plays with the team not only on the field but up stairs in the head.

Bird is the answer for 6 I must say risking my TIT membership ;-)

so Bailey could go on and stiffen up the defence and have a bigger ball runner out wide.

Bird was playing 7

We just need patience as well every play they push an offload and that brings errors. And we need and accurate field kicker does bird have the biggest boot if so make him practise all week in accuracy. Thats all and we where just beaten tonight is was 50/50 we just need top learn how to win the tough games again. If we make the eight we actually might have a chance of winning it. But until we learn how to win consistantly we will f**k it up. One thing do you think that maby noddy might unsettle the team. :?:

Direction around the park and a better kicking game, and thats what Noddy will bring next week.
Also I think Reick should be brought back into the side as well

Agreed, but will he be ready? Didn't sound confident when they interviewed him on fox after half time.

warren I'd have to say Simmons at this stage. Also Peach needs to run the ball back more like he did against the Raiders in round 1, it makes a big difference when he does.

Sully is a great dummy half, therefore he wont get a go at first receiver, we lacked a good organising half back tonight, I am not convinced on Bird at 5/8 yet, I hope we get Dykes back, I think his value would be evident in these injury situations

If we had ONE decent half tonight we win comfortably. Kent tries his guts out but his kicking is crap and his passing not much better. Looks dangerous when running the ball but is way out of his league at no 7. Bird did OK but clearly is a lock and not a 5/8.

So what we are missing is a GOOD half. Come back Noddy!!!

I still think defence needs work, alot of work.

The softness of bronco try number 2 was just terrible that early in the game.

but i agree on all your points about attack and organising, too many good players trying to do things that are not their natural strengths, trying to be creative when they need to just hit the line hard.

Hate to disagree with you Beeks but I reckon our defence was good tonight. To keep the Broncos scoreless for 70 minutes was a great effort.

That 2nd try was a bit soft but they did have all the possesion leading up.

And also Hunts threw every pass forward the first 4 or 5 times he had the ball. I bet Bennnet and co don't complain about that - hypocritcical ars@holes.
