Wondering what to expect from us early on.
Will we jump out of the blocks early on or will we be slow early with the new halves combo.
I dont really know maybe i shouldn't expect too much early.
Mark Gasnier said it will be about R9 before we see the best of them.
Not getting my hopes up v broncos

Going on past form that after Round 13 the team dies and we win 4 games after that point.
Am looking forward to the games between Round 9 and R13 though - they could be crackers.

Next week will tell us a lot.
Yes the Broncos will be finely tuned but I just dont see them as strong as in the past. They struggled for the first 40 mins in last weeks trial against the ISP PNG Headhunters actually trailling at half time before clicking in the 2nd half.
Oates is the danger man IMO.
We have superior forwards and halves who should be able to lay a platform for us.
Execution of plays is our biggest hurdle, we look like we are creating, its just the final execution of the play that is not effective ATM. Then closely followed by lapses in defence, especially at marker.
If we can get these right next Thursday it will go a long way to a 1st round win. If not, then it will be a long night.
Interestingly, Sportsbet have us at 1.80 favourites againat the Broncos 2.00

Bronco's will be a good test and playing them early is probably better than when they have had games under their belts. If Jack Bird playing? He is the X factor for me. It all comes down to Mary's selections. He will persist with Lafai which I feel will be the downfall as based on form he was the worst in the trials of all the centres we had. I would start Mann ahead of him and have Mann/Aitken in the centres.

Based on performance against Rabbits I am not expecting a win but you never know. They got flogged last year in the CS and managed to flog title favourites Penrith in round 1 from memory.

Probably lose 8 of our first ten and we get told it's because of the world cup interfering with preseason.
After all, no other team had players in the world cup.

That "flogging" against Penrith was against a distracted team that was unsettled due to the controversy involving Bryce Cartwright's girlfriend.

Under Bennett, Brisbane will be well prepared. Conversely, It will be case of "same old, same old" for a SGI squad expected to do well in front of a home ground.

Except for a brief period circa. 2005/06, the Broncos have usually been one of the Dragons' nemesis. Expect to be disappointed.

Unfortunately young Dufty is one player most 'under the pump', and he just doesn't have McGregor's confidence.

Got my tickets today. I'm expecting a win and will be on suicide watch if we lose.

Life isn't too bad mate, regardless of what it throws at us.
I just had a colonoscopy and spent the day singing, Moon River!
I'm now looking to engage Slater & Gordon Solicitors to see who l can sue.
I feel violated!
Nah ......... in truth, all is ok as long as we win in a high scoring game.

Home game VS Broncos, surely we can fire up.

Forwards should out forward their forwards.

Benny Hunt surely doesn't need any more time to play it right, hey after all, he is an international, SOO player and knows the Broncos game.

And Widdop and Jimmy Graham both know any tricks Creeping might try from their World Cup with him.

If we don't win.....i can't see much uphill from there on.

We must win this one.

Everything is in our favour.

I disagree...McGregor has shown a lot of confidence in Dufty and has talked him up after both trial games. He may be under the pump because of his position but so is everyone else. He has been one of the best players in both trials..

I just wonder how long it will take Ben Hunt to realise he's made a massive mistake.
I assume it'll be about round five when the 37th perfect pass he throws goes to ground cause our centres and wingers are too slow to be in the right positions.

Having said that, I hope we win, and who knows, maybe we will.
I always work on the premise that we will play like shit and get flogged, then I'm never disappointed and sometimes pleasantly surprised.

LOL we love to over rate our chances.
All will depend on the team that is nominated and hits the field.
If he starts with Graham, Vaughan, Frizzell, Sims & De Belin any upside our forwards had will be quickly lost come interchange time.
If the Bronco's halves click their outside backs will smash us if we don't pick the correct back line.
So this thread is premature and best answered after the team is announced.
