I agree mate, I want France to do really well, but I really think Lebanon will roll them, the playmakers Lebanon have it's on the cards. I hope I'm wrong. Also I can see England beating Australia. WB is a master coach, and the Australian team doesn't look as strong as it could be. I can see a sneaky ambush by the poms. Also maybe Samoa over the kiwis, I'm worried about the kiwi pack, if the Samoans get some momentum it could be on lol.

France v Lebanon is the hardest game to pick of the lot. I don't know why either result would be an upset at all and certainly not the biggest potential upset of the round. Every other game has a clear and legitimate favourite based on squad strength, past results and other factors like conditions and home advantage. It would be good if there were a few upsets but whatever result occurs in Canberra I wouldn't be calling it an upset.

Lebanon v France is a cracker of a game, it’s also the only game not shown live on tv.
It’s gonna get firey too, it’s basically both teams final. France have disappointed me way too many times in my life for me to have any faith in them. Lebanon for the win!

According to the bookies (sportsbet) it would be Scotland at $15 to beat Tonga followed by USA at $12 to beat Fiji.

On a side note you can get $3.30 in a multi with all the favourites (AUS, NZ, PNG, Fiji, Italy, France and Tonga) or $4.32 if you don't trust France and put Lebanon in. Good value either way.

England at $6.05 is taking the piss a bit though. I think Australia will win well but they should be around the $3.80 mark.

It’s a huge game for France as a loss to Lebanon will likely mean they are no longer regarded as. Tier 1 nation which implies slashed funding for grass roots and their juniors. It’s a massive game for them and they will be up for it.

They are quietly confident of getting through and according to their video sssions, Lebanon, don’t havr a lot of structure which is understandable.They will mostly play off the cuff and be relying on their NRL stars.

The French halves look pretty solid and looked good in their trial against Jamaica. At least 10 SL players in the squad so they should win.

France aren't a tier 1 nation and they aren't regarded a tier 1 nation by anyone and tier 1 nations don't get any special funding from any RL body.. so what funding will be affected exactly?

I would personally have the line at 20.5. I hope England prove me wrong and we get a tight contest.
