MITS would know. Some perpetual member on the channel 9 news was on last night and he wrote a letter to the Premier asking why he is still there.

It’s in the hundreds of thousands.
Not only why is he still there but why has he failed so badly at the job he was meant to do??? No reforms through and now he is even thinking on backtracking one some of the proposals that are the reasons he is there in the first place. Pissing off the factions.

I didn't think Avenger was inferring that at all. I thought he was inferring that we are paying a guy (or his firm) big money to perform a role that is now adversely affecting our on field performances.

Max has been great, but it seems he couldn't give a grain of rabbit shit how the team is going. He's an administrator and nothing else. Once he gets the reforms through it should be bye-bye Max and thanks for all your help

If Avenger was not specifically inferring that, then there have been many on here who have.

You are right, as soon as he sees clear of the road blocks which have prevented reform, then he is out the door. He said so himself and you might recall offered his services to the club pro bono, if required.

I don't get that he is on the scapegoat list, if merkins want to be outraged then they should vent at Fitzy and Spags who are the continual thorn in our clubs side and prevented the reform mandated by the Minister.

I am sure that Max views the books differently to other club Chairmen, simply because he takes his fiduciary responsibilities as Administrator seriously. You might not like that, but you also can't expect him to behave otherwise.

Its actually more complicated than that.
Only if you make it more complicated than it needs to be.
You have answered your own question...Probably a discussion for another thread, but why is it there are so many outraged merkins on here who claim to be members, but when Max puts his reforms to a vote only faction f**kwits show up?
Well putting it on at 6pm on a Wednesday night at Rosehill racecourse wasn't really going to get the crowds in was it?? It was also poorly advertised as well. It was like they wanted it to fail somehow..... It almost 12 months ago and his firm continues to earn stupid money for frankly doing SFA.......

I couldn't be bothered searching it. I know that you wrote he should be sacked if we come last or maybe even if we miss the 8.

I agree with you and applaud your conviction. Well done.
I wrote this which I stand by:

He won’t be going anywhere until the end of the season at least. If he does I will be disgusted in the club for not learning from past mistakes.

If we are genuinely serious about replacing him then let’s spend the rest of the year recruiting so we can line up some good options for 2019.

Don’t just arsehole him for the sake of it if it means Brett Kenny gets a run for the rest of the year.

I also mentioned something about the club feeling like they should be seen to do something hence why they might ask him to finish early. I couldn't find it though.

There was also some discussion about how BA might even hand in his resignation if he thinks he can't improve. I was certain that was something you and I also agreed on but I couldn't find it.

Didn't seem to worry the factions, did it?

Ram would call that an excuse

We were under the cap before he got here, we were under the cap and soon as Peats and Paulo were let go. If it was up to Max we wouldn't spend near the cap he is all about saving money and nothing else.

I don't think he is a scapegoat (well, poor old Hiney seems quite perturbed about it so maybe he is for a few people) I just think that a lot of our issues can clearly be traced back to cost cutting and he is the man driving that kind of reform.

Unfortunately this is a business where you need to spend money, and pinching pennies leaves you short on the field.

He's had 5 years, whats another year going to do??? We are one of the worst coached teams i have seen. Our attack is not even park standard, so you are happy to burn yet another season in the hope that this bloke can somehow turn it around?? This is a results driven business and the results are unacceptable it's as simple as that.
He hasn't though. Not really.

Think about it logically.

2014-2015 He was working with a decimated squad with sticky destroying the squad and our cap in the process the year before, even then he managed to keep us off the bottom even though we probably deserved to be there. Paying a lot of players to play at other clubs didn't help either.

2016 was the year from hell, salary cap breaches come out and we lose 12 points and he still manages to galvanise the squad and he finish in a respectable spot, especially considering we we had 12 points stripped, no one would have been surprised had we finished last with some daylight.

2017 we finish in 4th, make a poor finals run (to be expected, but an argument can be made there) but still a respectable season.

So that leaves this year, there's no sugar coating this year, we've not been able to convert the close games, and recruitments haven't really panned out, some of the squad is aging and should probably have been moved on already, which is costing us points and therefore games.

So the question becomes, does he deserve to be fired because of this one year? I don't think so, I do however think he needs help, he needs someone with a better eye for recruitment, although the players he has bought so far looked alright on paper, and just haven't all panned out unfortunately, not a lot can be done about that.

I think the time to review him as our coach is next year, when his contract is up, he will have had 3 full seasons by then, and we can better judge his performance.

knee-jerk reactions and following personal crusades aren't going to do us any good.

Hindy111 mentions how well the Riff juniors are going. Here is a tip from someone who has been involved in juniors in our district.

DA set us back 10 years , he allowed the GM to leave and go to the Riff 3 years ago just before he was terminated. His decision was based on not wanting to match the offer made, in fact he would have stayed for less. He then appointed the current person , who had been moved on from 2 smaller NRL clubs and was only at the Eels as one of the development staff left as a replacement. An absolute disaster , registrations are down 25 %, only 3 teams in the U17 comp, no C grade (U19) , so all 18 and 19 year olds are playing in the U23s. I have second hand info that a few of our Ball forwards are getting hammered playing against 22/23 year olds.

The Panthers juniors have a healthy 17 year age group comp and 2 C grade divisions with plenty of Parra juniors playing there. As a club we have some good age players coming through, but personally I have no faith in the junior admin, even my grandson has moved into the Riff comp. Hopefully, they can rebuild the older age groups, first step would be a new GM in juniors to get some traction with the clubs, who basically want new leadership.

He has failed IMO, he’s been here for two years and what has he achieved???

He’s done nothing more than what any competent chairman or CEO would of done.

He hasn’t got his reforms through so why should we be applauding a bloke who is being paid huge chunks of cash to be here???

Honestly, I have no clue. I don't have enough knowledge of RL personnel & administrator/coach types to make that recommendation.

I think having a head of football type (Brian Smith Maybe? but I dunno him specifically, someone with huge experience and a great footy brain) Might be a good idea, can oversee recruitment, advise on tactics, coaching personnel, that kind of stuff that is lacking at the moment.

I just don't believe that BA is the whole problem, and that sacking him is the solution, I'm of the opinion that there are more moving parts to the solution than that. I think if we sack BA now, anyone we replace him with is going to have the exact same problems, and we'll be calling for his head in a few months, rinse & repeat.

You refused to say anything you muppet. At least he articulated that he would give him another go no matter what.

Sorry if I won't follow your narrative.

I have said enough. He has coached us for 115 games and losing your shit over the last 12 games is nothing more than premature ejaculation.
