Where we are compared to 2003

This time last year (coming up to round 15) we were sitting on 8 points and our run home included:

5 Home games (Cowboys, Manly, St.GI, Wests, Cronulla)
5 Away games (Newcastle, Souths, Melbourne, Brisbane, Penrith)
2 Byes

We finished on 26 points, missing the Top 8 by 2 points.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This year we are on 14 points (equal 8th spot) and our run home includes:

5 Home games (Broncos, Roosters, Tigers, Warriors, Panthers)
6 Away games (Panthers, Warriors, Cowboys, Storm, Sharks, Roosters)
1 Bye

We are 6 points better off this year but our run home will be alot harder and we only have 1 bye. We CANNOT DROP ANYMORE HOME GAMES, including this week against the Broncos. It's a must win game just like last weekend.

The fact is we are not unbeatable at home. It's putting a lot of pressure on the guys to say they have to win every home game. If we lose on saturday you're effictively saying our season is over, while it may be a setback I don't think that's the case

Comparison between seasons 2003 and 2004

We've won 2 matches we lost last year - Manly and Newcastle away

We've lost 4 matches we won last year - Wests away, and Dragons, Sharks, Cowboys at home.

I dare say 26 points will be enough this year and maybe even 24 on for and against. We have still got to take things one game at a time at the moment.

The point is we have dropped games in the easiest part of our season. After round 4 our team should have gone on a winning streak not a losing one. The crucial game was the Cronulla loss.

30 got you in the top 4 last year.

The top 4 this year will be at least 32 and more likely 34.

30 would have barely got you into the 8 last year actually.

1. Panthers - 40
2. Roosters - 38
3. Bulldogs - 36
4. Canberra - 36
5. Melbourne - 34
6. Warriors - 34
7. Knights - 32
8. Broncos - 28

9. Parra - 26

The competition seems much tighter this year so that means a lower points tally may be needed. Still be happier if the Eels get 30+ points. It means that we have won at least 50% of our games.

i think we can realistically win 7 more games (3 at home and 4 away), with our bye that would give us another 16 points

14 + 16 = 30pts which should put us somewhere between 4th-8th position depending on other results-i'd love us to somehow scrape into the top 4 and get a home final but thats a bit too much wishful thinking---lets just hope we play a Sydney team so we can go and watch it!
Go The Eels!

I'd be stoked if we finished the rounds on 30pts !!

The closer we come to that aim, the more chance we have of being in the finals, and to get to there presumably we'd have racked up some vital form in wins against some class sides.

Fingers crossed...

Consistency is the key. If we fall into another slump we have no chance. It's a lot harder to win 5 in a row, than to lose 5 in a row.

Yep damn straight Eels Dude, Consistency. We musn't fail now. We need to start winning and having pride for the jersey which Im sure there all capable of. And with key returns in Cayless and Cannings still to come, We have a good shot at finals birth.
