The NBA draft lottery has been done and here are the picks

1 Milwaukee
2 Atlanta
3 Portland
4 New Orleans
5 Charlotte
6 Utah
7 Toronto
8 New York
9 Golden State
10 L.A. Lakers
11 Orlando
12 L.A. Clippers
13 Charlotte, from Cleveland
14 Minnesota

Andrew better hope he doesnt drop to 3 and go to Portland, that would be bad. Milwaukee could be good for him. Atlanta? They are a franchise going nowhere.

I am sure ESPN's Sportscenter had him going to the Atlanta Hawks Saab...wherever he ends up, most Australians will have a new favourite NBA team I'd imagine.

Hmm, am I prepared to jump off the Dwayne Wade run Miami Heat? Don't think so...LONG LIVE ALL MIAMI PROFESSIONAL SPORTING FRANCHISES!

most australians...not me. I will be a detroit piston/lion/tigers/redwings fan till the day i die. ;-) especially the Pistons more so.

I hope he doesnt end up in atlanta...it would be career suicide. It would be like playing for the Rabbits.
Hopefully if they do pick him they trade him to Utah.

ps... your heat have nothing on my pistons.

I am hoping Utah, has a nice ring to it given the success he had in College there. Tend to agree with the Atlanta summary you posted, I am sure he is feeling the same way though he could have a LeBron James effect on the franchise similar to what James did Cleveland? Who knows, the scouts rate Bogurt highly that is certain.

As for the Detroit Pistons... ...Apart from Miami, they are the team I love watching in the NBA with the Suns though not in this series, there D is awesome and whilst I have faith in Wade (the new improved version of Kobe) he really needs 'Big Diesel' there to combat Wallace and co.

Game 2 is @ MIAMI, we will see what happens...

 GOOD LUCK SAAB!

Do you think they will hand over the belts if we manage to win this series or if they lose in the finals? I love the idea though just quietly.

Bogut will not be able to turn around the Hawks. Not even MJ, Magic, and Hakeem could turn that franchise around. Andrew is not that type of player. He is not a Tim Duncan, or Mourning (pre illness). He is good, but not THAT good. So i hope he doesnt end up there. Portland? they are also a bunch of misfits. Not looking promising for AB.

Miami had their way with the nets and wizards, but they dont play D. Pistons know how to combat Shaq, they did it last yr. The belts will stay in Michigan.
And you "other" team the suns are down 2-0 so you can put a fork in them.

We will see with the Suns, 5 games to go, though putting Marion on Duncan seems a little strange IMHO. Live and learn, hard to write them off completely with Marion and Nash there despite being down 0-2.....

As for handling SHAQ, again, we will see :) He will not be the regular season force, he will be a little rusty, though his presence alone will attract attention and give some space to Wade who will not be that shoot 28% from the floor again this series.

marion is playing like crap for the suns. Again, its the spurs Defence. Amare is on fire though, 41 and 37 in 2 games.
If it is spurs vs pistons look for 75-72 scorelines....points bonanza!
People said it allllllllllll yr..defence wins titles and the suns dont play it. They are being found out vs the Spurs.
The Heat also cant combat the pistons. They have 2 players...shaq and wade. The pistons have both wallaces, rip, chauncey, prince and mcdyess off the bench.
Heat cant handle all those athletic defense orientated players.
Pistons did it to Kobe last yr, they will do it to Wade this yr!

I read an interview with the Bucks GM after the lottery, from what that said it looks as if it's either Bogut or they trade it. When talking about Williams and Paul he kind of implied that they'd be backing up a position they're already strong at.

So True, with Redd (more then likely) and DMase on the wings picking Williams would be a bit crazy (Unless they trade Williams of course...). I think Bogat will picked by the Bucks and will be hopeing like crazy for Australian basketballs sake that he doesn't go to the Hawks or JailBlazers.

He'd be in a great situation with Milwaukee because they're not really that bad of a team. Atlanta's doomed for failure for a fair while, Charlotte's building from the ground up and poor New Orleans are probably a few players away from being decent. Of course if he doesn't average 30/15/10 every American will be calling him the biggest bust in history, and if he was to average 30/15/10 then he'd be the best Croatian player in history because of course anyone born in Australia with foreign heritage can't possibly be considered Australian. I don't think he can really win either way, but it'll be fun to watch all the same.

That's pretty much spot on. The way that both the Croatian and US media in particular have painted Bogut as being good only because of his European roots is ridiculous and more than just a little bit weird. Australia is a nation of immigrants and their descendants, more than the US ever was. How much more Aussie can you get than being born here and having the accent? Nobody would ever suggest that he ignore his roots but damn.. if you were born here or grew up here then Europe has bugger all to do with it.

I go to RealGM forums every now and then and it gets really bad there. Someone will say "why does Bogut play for Australia when he's European?" then someone else will reply with "He was born and raised in Europe but his parents moved to Australia" or something equally stupid. It's typical though, the first big time player we're going to have since Longley, the player who could possibly save basketball in this country and everyone north of here will think he's friggin Croatian.

Maybe you should make a signature file in big bold red text: "BOGUT WAS BORN IN MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA." I doubt it would register with them though.

I think Bogut will go at Number 1. Milwaukee need a centre, and he would fit in well. Given enough minutes I think he could average 14ppg, 10rpg and 1.5bpg.
