1987 V Canberra.

22 nil at half time before Sterling, Kenny, Lindner and Eden tore them a new one and scored 30 unanswered points in the second half.

1987 v Canberra, i wasn't at game but was listening on Radio, that Canberra side went on to play in the GF that year. Lindner has his best game in eels colours, must have been close to origin selection time.
Manly this year, well, the forward pass remember and the dressing room door.
2008 v dogs was good but Saturday night was better. But we were behind of 3 kicks and dropped ball.

Any win against the Dogs is worth 5 wins against anybody else.

Any win against the Dogs when we have to come from 20 points down beats any other comeback.

To compare all I would think that the Faders game was the best based on skill. Canberra did not actually play all that bad, we just did some freakish things. Played perfect footy.

The Manly game was quite execptional, simply because it was Manly & Judas. Desi ripped the door off. Haha you could not have written a better script.

Back in 1987, Canberra signed a young coach from Queensland to be the co-coach with Don Furner.
The plan was that the young coach would learn the ropes and be mentored by Don, and then become the Raiders head coach the following year.

After the Raiders led 22-0 at half time and lost to Parramatta, Don joked to the press "Hey, I coached them in the first half, and then I let this idiot take over for the second half "

And the young coach was... Wayne Bennett.

I have mentioned this game a few times over the years in the forums.

I will never forget sitting in the stand, and having two old biddy's scream "Waiders" every 5 seconds.

Being a young bloke of about 16, I was too polite to tell them to shut the f up.

Half time came around, and dear old Dad was not one to suffer humiliation's too well - asked me if I wanted to go home. With the sound of Waiders still being wailed into my ears (even though it was half time) I had too think long and hard.

Parra were being smashed by the likes of Belcher, Meninga, Peter Jackson, Sam Backo, and the Walters brothers (pretty much the Qld SOO team - or would be in the future).

Parra had Sterlo (still playing OK in 1987), Bobby Lindner (still the incumbent QLD lock - i think) , Guru Snr & the majority of the 86 pack, including one Terry Leabeater.
(With some other well knowns like Don Price & Louis Takairangi - who played for Parra 3 times & scored 1 try on the wing)

We still had a gun team.

Told Dad, that we would stick it out for another 10 mins & see what happened.

Praise the lord, the tables turned, and the rest is history!

I once again came home with know voice, Parra actually won a game with Harrigan as ref, and to this day, I can still here that old biddies voice in my ear "WAIDERS". The sheer joy of hearing that silenced would have to be one of the highlights of my 30+ years of supporting Parra.:D

1993 (I think?), 20-0 down to Newcastle at half time. Came back to win 24-20, led by Brett Kenny and Stu GODbraith.

Parra were beat 28-8 their only game against Knights that year.

Your main man was playing, and Michael Speechley at 5/8th. (Not even Bert could have saved that one I reckon).;-)

I dont actually recall a massive comeback win like that against the Knights - or are you just playing silly buggers?:D

Just had a look - 1992 - Parra win 22-16, Stu GODbraith at 1/2 & The Natural at 5/8th. Joe Bartolo 2 meat pies, and Lee "Faster than Chariots Offiah" Oudenryn 1 try. Buetts 5/6 at goal. (Tom Brown at fullback? 3 appearances)

Taikarangi - must have been good in Monie's eyes, to keep Atko & Hunty on the bench. Yet he only last 3 games?

I remember big Taka playing a mid week cup game against Balmain at Leichhardt and he scored what appeared to be his only first grade try and knocked himself out in the process..

I think I read some where that he's son plays for the roosters, Brad Takairangi..

that was the game I was thinking about, Bartolo scored 2 wonderful tries from a sweeping backline movement which would of even made our early 80's legends sit up and take notice.
