What Grand final loss felt worse-1995 or 1997?

Personally for me 1997 hurt more. I was older aand I understood more, and it looked like we had the game wrapped up. Having said that, 1995 hurt-my whole family go for the dogs, and I'm still hearing about that game today. However I was younger then (5), and while I'm told I was very upset, I don't believe it was as much for 1997, as I cried for around 2 hours in my room as soon as Darren Albert scored in the last minute.

Definetly 1997, we were winning the game and the circumstances which we lost made it so much worse.
I remember after Albert scored a feeling of emptiness, we were the best team on the field and there was nothing we could do, it was full time.
After the game i went home in tears, stayed in my room for about 2 days and when i came out i had a huge fight with my girlfriend of 4 years and we broke up because i was in such a cranky mood.
I know this sounds shallow but i think it was the worst day of my life, i am full sad now just thinking about it.

hard to say

the way we lost 97 hurt

but the fact that we lost 95 really killed me, as we were easily the best team that year

1995 :x . I was in line with that ridiculously forward pass that was awarded with a try.

Wasn't paying much attention during 1997, so I can't really remember the match too well.

1997 without a doubt...

The fact that several players shouldn't have played makes it even worse. Every time I see the Albert footage I try not to bury my face in my hands. Truly the worst moment of all time.

yeah 1997 was prolly the worst

95 was bad cos we deserved it.. but at the time i wasn't a full mad keen supporter, so it didnt hurt thaat much

but 97 still kills me, for all the reasons that have been said. i still can never look at any fotos or footage of that game, it hurts

They were both shocking. Only good thing about it has been seeing the Rorters lose 2 out of the last three GFs so that they know how it feels!!!

I had to go 97 but only because it was the last grand final we have made and we lost it at the death. I think the steriods involvement of 97 is the only thing that still pisses me off. Without the steriods used by the knights I think it would be 95 outright for me. 95 was the unitied competition.

95-96 we had it all. They were the best footy team I have ever seen. The defence of that era will never be witnessed again.

The 95 team lost 3 games all season. (1 being a GF)

That 95 GF was an absolute joke. Dragons fans may think the Ridge play on call in '96 cost them, but they really had no hope. The 95 GF had forward passes try and a 7th tackle try.

We beat the dogs 26-0 in an away game that season before they stated that dodgy run home to scrap into the finals.

95 by a mile.

F*cking Eddie Ward the spastic c&nt. 7 tackle try, foward pass f^ck me dead Eddie. The worst performance in a GF EVER.

97 hurt but i knew at the time it was good for the game, but the fact that the Knight scored on the back of a David Manson blunder in the Eagles half does not sit well. I remember yelling at the TV

"Knock on, get f&cked Manson, it came off his knee you clown!"

Aaagh! As far as i am concerned we did not lose those GF's ...... We were robbed, plain and simple.

In 1995 Manly were by far so dominant it wasn't funny. I actually felt for them when they lost. Manly played poorly in the 95 GF decider and Ward helped by awarding 3 tries that shouldn't have been. Actually the only fair try of the day was by Matt Ryan and it was disallowed. Manly lost that game by playing poorly.

In 1997 Manly played well and for a lot of the time you thought were going to win but it was destiny for Newcastle to win that game. Ya cop those.

Roosters 2003 and 2004 very similar. 2003 Penrith were destined to win it and won it and deserved it. Last year we handed it to em. #-o

In 96 we were robbed!

nah, actually we were lucky to be there.

You guys should have won 95, 96 but 97 the knights had that x-factor.

Can't believe I'm saying this - but you guys were well and truly robbed in '95. I remember watching Manly play in Canberra that year about Rd 10 I think. Both teams were unbeaten at that stage and the Raiders were defending premiers and on fire. We played a great game - almost mistake free, but Manly came through and beat us in an amazing match. Prob the best team to never win a GF.
