Who bats 1-6 for Australia in Tests this summer

Dare say we are all agreed that it's extraordinarily tough times for Australian Cricket - the toughest I've seen and I saw the early 80's..

Anyway we have to pick a batting line-up 1-6 to play India here this summer. Listed below are all the options I can think of. Note - not shown Khawaja - he's a given selection with his knee right but lets assume he's out. Would do a poll but only limited options.

We gotta pick 6 from this! (or feel free to add others)

Who's your 1-6?

A Finch**
G Maxwell
D Short
M Marsh**
M Stoinis
T Head**
M Labuschagne**
S Marsh**
J Burns
H Cartwright
A Doolan
C Ferguson
P Handscomb
M Harris
S Heazlett
W Pucovski
M Renshaw
J Weatherald
C White
D Hughes
J Lehmann
G Bailey

** - denotes incumbent test player from recent UAE Tests vs Pakistan.

Assuming Khawaja is out, I would pick:

Renshaw
Finch
Burns
Ferguson (as a stop gap, for experience)
Head
Labuschagne

The cupboard is pretty bare... Form and experience wise anyway

CA will probably pick, assuming Khawaja is out

Finch
Marsh, S
Head
Marsh, M
Labuschagne
Wade (as a batsman)

Only 2 shield games so far and these are the highest averages....pretty woeful when you have bowlers in that lineup.

Maybe Copeland can replace MMarsh as the 'allrounder'...

Actually it's more of an indication that there have only been two fking matches... Bowlers who can bat like Copeland and Neser are always a chance to make the list with a small sample

Of course, but I thought the team would be picked on form......Good luck with that.....though they do hav 3 more shield games before the 1st Test.

Both Marsh's to be picked and to do the usual Summer bash to opposition bowlers not equipped to deal with flat Aussie pitches.

5 year selection guarantee for both after that.

When is Bancroft officially available?

The way JL spoke of him after sandpaper gate, you would think he is gonna be a shoe in

For mine

1 Khawaja - I have no stats to back it up but ive always thought he was a better opener
2 Renshaw - Obvious
3 Callum Ferguson - Can be decent stop gap, deserves more the 1 test
4 Head - Decent in UAE
5 Maxwell - Averages 41 in FC cricket, deserves an oppurtunity\
6 Finch - Decent in UAE, I think he fits middle order better

Backups
Kurtis Patterson - First clas average 40, just can't convert 50s to 100s
Joe Burns - Decent stop gap
Peter Handscomb - Still averages 40 in tests and FC

Bolter
Hilton Cartwright - Big fan but form has dropped away badly, but scored 80 on the weekend and hopefully is on his way back to his best

Nah f**k that, I accepted the captaincy mostly so I could bat myself at 8. None of this top six rubbish

I always thought 7 was the key spot.

Enough partners left to have a decent knock, and if you come in at 5/25 and get a score you look like a hero, whilst if you fail it’s the top 6s fault.
